Missed antibiotic dose

DD was prescribed antibiotics Tuesday for chest infection, times have been

10:45am

4:45pm

10:45pm

I've been setting alarms to make sure all of these rides have been given; and usually haven't needed to anyway as we're up all night with coughing fits. However last night I missed giving the antibiotic dose as 1) the alarm didn't go off and 2)we've had no coughing fits.

Now I've tried to read up on it but we're almost 7hours past the dosage time, there obviously isn't any pharmacies open I can call, does anyone know if it'll be okay to give the next dose now?

I also am expecting some comments about " waking hours " but unfortunately needed the start the AB's right away and DR said they needed to be spaced atleast 6 hours apart.

If I start them now I was going to do 5 - 11 - 5 because this way she won't have had more than the 3x doses in 24 hours from yesterday.

It’s no problem, just take an ‘extra dose’ at the end of the course then you’ve completed it. Your timings sound much more achievable. I’m a nurse and occasionally abx timing are messed up due to procedures etc. Hope your daughter feels better soon!

If your daughter isn’t awake I’d do 8-2-8. Don’t wake her, sleep is just as important as ABXs to get better.

Yeah this is the thing I immediately weren't happy with the timings because she has a pretty bad cough now whenever you wake her she spends 45 mins non stop coughing! was seeing an improvement though and now feel so bloody shit about it.

Tried to call 111 at weren't given a medicine leaflet, but they told me to just call boots at 9am!

And now I'm a bit worried that'll be too long between doses.

Don't worry. Just take the dose and continue. No harm done.
