My mum had problems with alcohol when I was growing up and could occasionally be abusive.

When I was around 15 - I’d moved away from mixing with my primary school friends in secondary and started mixing with a new set of people where my mum didn’t know the parents. Mums of teens reading this can no doubt relate - this is very common for teenage kids.

My much loved Gran - mum’s mum - died just before I turned 15. When I was 15 in general my relationship with mum hit rock bottom.

Anyway one day mum turned round and said to me (because, let’s face it - no one faces the correct way during conversations) - no one of your old school friend’s parents even acknowledged Gran’s death - when Helen (primary friend) lost her Gran I sent Ann (Helen’s Mum) a lovely bunch of flowers. But I’ve received nothing!!!! Me and your current friends’ parents DON’T MIX IN THE SAME CIRCLES !!

Aibu to think my mum was behaving a bit spoilt here ?

Just for context -on a broader level she’s actually the most selfish, spoilt, immature person I’ve come across!

Sounds like she was hurting and felt alone in her grief and was hoping her kind gestures would be reciprocated. Her mum's death is clearly still on her mind.
