Any antisocial toddlers?

Any of your toddlers is terrified of familiar people in the house ? We just Christmas and my in laws were there . My dd is 22 months and she is just not comfortable with them . First , she gets overwhelmed and excited but never shows them toys or gets close in 22 months . She is okay with noise , food and other sensory things but she will eventually start crying and looking for me when other people are around . She is find walking on the street though . In a nutshell it is becoming impossible having people over for an extended period of time . She communicates really well but the social aspect is very worrying . She is scared of toddlers as well and when we take to groups she only parallels plays . Anyone saw a light at the end of the tunnel

Yes. This was my DS until he got to about 3. Now he's happy to chat away with family/ friends/ neighbours.

She is very little - she’s still learning about others and you are her trusted rock and safe place.

Never force her to interact -but encourage her and model social behaviour such as greeting and talking etc. Gently keep exposing her to situations but let her return to you for reassurance and a cuddle whenever she needs it.

with time and exposure she’ll get more confident
