The polar bears ate them all

soupfiend · 24/12/2024 20:50

I know. Its difficult because they're cute. But in the wrong place

Ive just wrapped up presents with paper with penguins on them.

So wrong.

ShamblesRock · 24/12/2024 20:55

We have a flying snowman, I can cope with some lost penguins.

mnahmnah · 24/12/2024 21:11

I only clicked at the weekend when wrapping presents, with penguins on, that clearly there are none at the North Pole! So why do we have them on Christmas things?

BlueScrunchies · 24/12/2024 21:15

I have found my people 🙌

It absolutely does my head in. Even more so because in the Snowdog follow up, they are still there! Clearly lessons have not been learnt 😂

Newuser75 · 24/12/2024 21:23

Oh my goodness we have watched the snowman and the snowman's and the snow dog today and I said exactly the same thing!!

ShamblesRock · 24/12/2024 21:33

More to the point why do they fly south out of Brighton when they are on their way to the North Pole?

So many unanswered questions even 42 years later.

(Just watched it too, it's our Christmas Eve tradition)

Cerialkiller · 24/12/2024 21:33

Just watched it (Christmas eve tradition) its always bothered me.

However, here's the thing. They actually are going south. James lives in Brighton on the south coast. The clearly fly over the pavillion and the pier and continue going SOUTH over the sea.

I mean, they must skip the bit where they fly over the Sahara but they must be going to the south pole which is why they see penguins. This also explains why James didn't freeze to death because it was the Antarctic summer not the arctic weather winter.

It also explains why we have never track down Santa. We've been looking in the wrong place!!!

I don't know how to explain the scandi village the pass over, maybe theres an island in the Antarctic sea where Norwegians built a replica village to remind them of home....

Sparklesocks · 24/12/2024 21:35

I don’t know, I think the annual snowman dance party with Santa made me suspend disbelief a bit more 😄

I think this is the answer we've all been looking for.

Not just the Snowman.... Mention cold weather/the Arctic/North Pole and penguins appear. All so wrong, does half the population not realise penguins are south and polar bears north? All those Christmas cards with penguins and polar bears appearing in the same snow scene!
What's the matter with people?!

UndeniablyGenXmasOfAWomblingMerryType · 25/12/2024 07:55

Whatever you do, do not watch The Apprentice 2023 'Artic [sic] Saviour' episode 😀

ImRonBurgandy · 25/12/2024 12:27

No danger of that @UndeniablyGenXmasOfAWomblingMerryType

@Cerialkiller I did look this up once, Norway has 3 territories south of equator - all uninhabited though.
