Non Santa presents under the tree?

My DP and I have very difftent ideas about Christmas presents. I like to put the presents around the tree, how we had it as children ( obviously Santa presents were in a sack at the end of our beds). DP wants them out of sight until.Christmas morning and never around the tree! DP gets annoyed when I make a compromise of only presents for family under the tree. Ours out of sight until the morning. For context, no Santa presents as DC's all grown up. We have this same argument every year. Am I being unreasonable?

Always hide the presents til Christmas eve in the evening. Then we get them out and put them under the tree. So she puts them under the tree with me. So she can see them wrapped then

I love reading how everyone does things differently. We don't have Santa gifts here. Everything is from us/ other friends and family, Santa is the delivery driver.

We usually do everything under the tree except Santa gifts (pillow case at end of bed) but as we have a 1.5 year old running riot, we haven't put anything under the tree yet and will all go under tonight once the kids are in bed. We did the same when eldest was the same age.

Everything goes under the tree as it is wrapped, Santa only brings presents for the stockings, which get hung by the fire Christmas Eve and then move to their door handles once filled. Even when the kids were little the presents went under the tree from mid December, the poking and guessing is part of the fun!

All the presents go under the tree/Santa hidden until Christmas morning

Presents from Father Christmas into stockings at the end of the DC's beds once they're asleep.

Presents from everyone except immediate family (me, DH, DD1 & DD2) are placed under the tree as they arrive, but we only put the rest of the presents under the tree on Christmas Eve. The DDs enjoy arranging them, but as our tree is on a big ledge in our huge bay window, I don't really want a tempting array of presents on display to passers-by for longer than necessary!

Exactly the same for me.
I've always worried about presents being on show from a theft point of view.

I’m with your DH. As kids the best memories were coming down Christmas morning and all the presents had appeared, delivered by Father Christmas (but he only delivered them on behalf of the givers). The sight of them all twinkly and surprising and promising was just so wonderful. I couldn’t do anything different than that with my kids so that’s all they’ve known too

Everything stays hidden here. Father Christmas brings it all from the north pole. Stockings go at the end of the bed, presents under the tree. I used to love switching the tree lights on in the dark and seeing all the presents left underneath!

But the presents are from us, he just delivers them. We don't do any presents 'from' FC himself.

I'm also strict about calling him Father Christmas but bloomin Santa is everywhere!!

All the presents go under the tree from the minute they are wrapped/handed to you before Christmas Day. Santa then adds his when he delivers on Christmas Eve. Your DP sounds like a bit of a Grinch.

Yes the ultimate Grinch. And we are hosting, so everything to DP's exacting standards. Kind of sucks the fun out of the day. We usually all have a great time, so I'm sure it will all work out fine . Merry Christmas to all

All presents turn up on Christmas morning. Father Christmas brings the stockings, but the tree presents from us and family also are placed there Christmas morning/Christmas Eve night.

CandyLeBonBon · 24/12/2024 19:54

Kids put their presents to each other under the tree and presents from family/friends go under as they arrive.

I still do a stocking for all 3 lady thing on Christmas Eve even though they're teens/young adults and all presents from me go under the tree at about midnight!
