Why is it so difficult to get school shirts?

DS is tall and in his last year of school and has grown out of (trashed) his white shirts. So I need to buy a few more…

I ordered some on line and with the muddle between collar sizes and ages, ended up with some massive tent like garments.

i went to a large M&S who were out of stock but ordered some… and (despite explaining he was a tall boy) got a delivery of girls shirts.

today the replacement arrived. And there’s Velcro down the front!!! WTF?? He’s 18 and not doing a Full Monty routine, he’s doing A levels.

Since when did 6’2” lads with a 16.5 collar have fake buttons and Velcro?

AIBU to expect it to be easier to find bog standard white school shirts?

And if IABU… where do you recommend?

They are from the Easy dressing range for children / people who struggle with fine motor skills and who struggle with buttons to give them independence.

Check out David Luke school shop you may have more luck there in stock £19 for 2.

I resorted to buying proper shirts from Hawes and Curtis in the sale for my tall sixth former. £20 each 😭. But three last a year and they really appreciate the fact that they actually fit.

I got my son's in Asda but he's only 16 and wearing age 17-18. He's 'only' 5'11 though, naturally quite slim but works out a lot. I was going to get some more and saw your post. Hope it's not as hard for me as it's been for you! And also hope Asda go one size up. Struggling with trousers currently. They all flap.

We found it easier to buy from the menswear section than trying to get from kidswear for a 'child' that size.

I had to buy my tall ds mens tall shirts. Much easier actually than messing with school shirts, and from Next or ASOS they aren't too expensive and wash a lot better than the school shirts

I buy ex-M&S shirts from ebay. They're usually in older style packaging but otherwise no different.

I get DS these slim fit white shirts from Next (online). They do a long option too, They're not cheap, but clothes aren't at that size. Bring back the days of 5 polo shirts for a tenner!!
