My in laws are here. I’m upstairs, I’m ill, feel dreadful. Happy to be in bed, but also starting to get really hungry, want a cuppa, don’t want to go down and see them when I feel like shit and look like shit. They’re very proper and quite formal. They’ve been here for 3 hours. Can they go home? Bleurgh

Could you text your DH and ask him to get rid of them or at least to bring you up some tea & toast? I’m surprised they want to hang around so long in a house where they might catch something. Sympathies are with you xx

Yes text DH or even better make an announcement on Alexa "bring me tea, minion!"

They have now left and DH is bringing supplies. The one upside of being this ill means it’s unlikely I’ll have to endure a single minute with SIL this Christmas. God bless the cold virus.

Defo text. Make sure it's implied that you "don't want to come down in case I infect anyone" so they don't take the hump. Ask for a snack too in case you feel like it in 20 mins and they are still there....

Use deliveroo and lower a basket down from your bedroom window!
