Wait until you take them through a car wash. In the car obviously not just for a walk. Mine all screamed blue murder and tried to throw themselves on the floor.

Why on earth not if they’re strapped in to a locked car?

They burst into flames apparently

ohtowinthelottery · 23/12/2024 10:32

Kwik Fit jacked my car up took the wheel off and changed a tyre with my 2 still in it once as it was easier than having to unload DD into her wheelchair and have toddler DS roaming around the garage.
It wouldn't even have occurred to me that I couldn't put air in the tyres with passengers of any age in the car.

WillowTit · 22/12/2024 08:35

i never considered otherwise
its the tyres, not the weight surely

The weight of a toddler and car seat is nothing compared to the weight of the car empty!

viques · 23/12/2024 10:47

No I would advise taking the toddler out of the car seat and letting it wander around the garage forecourt while you fiddle about with those damn little screw on things, heave the hose over the car roof and listen for the beep …………

viques · 23/12/2024 10:48

Balloonhearts · 22/12/2024 11:43

No you're better to strap her to the roof.

Silly, that is for when you go through the car wash.

Omg I did that! Twins aged about 2, they were hysterical! I suppose it probably was quite scary in hindsight. Putting air in the tyres is just a strange thing to overthink though.

Well I’m going to clutch away because though work I’ve dealt with incidents of the deaths of children through cars that have seemingly ‘randomly’ set alight, more than one of which was at a petrol station. Don’t be so ignorant.

I'm still waiting for the public domain evidence to support what you claim to have dealt with. Methinks I will be waiting a long time ...

I worry about the mental state of people having kids if god forbid an emergency were to actually happen.

I'm sure in emergency op would be able to deal with it as well as anyone else. I think we all get these random thoughts once in a while and it's nice to have a place where you can ask a question like this and have your fears alleviated quickly. Ideally without judgment.

topcat2014 · 23/12/2024 14:59

When you will up with fuel the weight of the car varies by 50kg so if course it is fine

Somebody told me on another thread like this this doesn't happen but it happens at least once a year in the United States. I understand that you're in the UK but I believe kidnappers still exist in the UK.

I will also add I read an article last week where a woman went into pay for gas at the gas station and when she came back there was a man fondling her child that she had left in the car. That's not a risk I'm personally willing to take.

Google will also throw up lots of reports of children hit by cars in petrol stations. Its a balance of risks. Carrying one baby in is easy.. three toddlers not so much.

Obviously, safest option is Pay at Pump.

neverknowinglyunreasonable · 22/12/2024 08:42

No. It's very dangerous. There have been cases in the past where people have got distracted and put air into the toddler instead.

😂😂😂😂

That's why you lock your car, surely? Confused

MudpiesinEssex · 23/12/2024 18:18

You think passengers are at risk of injury from a puncture, in a parked car?

Still waiting for evidence ...
