To think it’s rare to meet someone without using online dating apps

I’m nearly 30 and single got out of a long term relationship beginning of the year. I don’t really want to meet anyone yet and I’m happy alone for now but in the future I feel the only way to meet someone is online. I’ve used tinder / hinge in the past but I remember it being a soul destroying, draining experience. I met some nice guys just non I would want to see again/compatible with and even that took so much time and effort to filter out the bad ones. Anyone I’ve ever had a relationship with I’ve met in person normally on a night out but now I’m not in my early 20’s and have a child, my social life isn’t exactly booming. Has anyone met their partner by chance in real life? Does it still happen?

I met someone unintentionally on a cycling trip. (I was tour staff and he was a client)
We were then friends for a good year or so before it became more. It didn’t last all that long for various reasons. (His widower grief. My commitments, distance … Still devastated) but, if you can manage to do a new thing, a weekly art class, climbing lessons or a running club or something,
I’m meeting the first ever dating site bloke this week.
Bricking it and not a fan of trawling through all the double chins of awful online profiles.
There was only one of interest in 100’s.
Depressing.
But have also booked short adventure holiday in Scotland with random people in May.
Hoping if I enjoy life more by myself then other things may follow.

I agree with you, I use to meet men when I was younger as they would approach me on the street now I'm always with my children so that never happens and wouldnt expect it to! I would need to use apps to meet someone
