Christmas number 1?

I’ll preface this by saying that I agree with cutting the WFA, before the Labour Party bots accuse me of being right wing and mean to the beleaguered government. They were wrong when in opposition, but it was easy to suppport any number of causes which they have subsequently rowed back on. As they are finding, it’s much harder in government…

Anyway, it’s possible that this will be the Christmas number 1. It’ll be freezing this Christmas, a parody of the Mud Christmas hit.

However, the BBC won’t play it. AIBU to expect the BBC to play the Christmas number one, or for that matter, even if it doesn’t get to number 1, play it as it’s clearly a popular song. I even heard it playing in Switzerland earlier in the week, though the irony might not have been apparent to them I guess ☺️

Well I've never heard it or even heard of it and I don't even listen to BBC but I do listen to a lot of radio so I'm surprised I haven't come across it yet

JoshLymanSwagger · 20/12/2024 16:57

It's censorship.

Yanbu they should play it

I thought Wham Last Xmas would be no 1

It's at Number 37.... so not really that close to Number 1

NotTerfNorCis · 20/12/2024 17:02

The BBC have to be careful about political bias.

WillimNot · 20/12/2024 17:07

It's not the first one they've not played, they didn't play the records by The K*nts either.

I think there is a fine line on what they can play. Charts are incredibly different now, songs which came out decades ago are vying for number 1.

I have heard it, it has been all over Facebook and TikTok.
I don't agree with completely cutting the WFA but I think they've had to make cuts somewhere. The idea of freezing old grannies though is very politically marketable by the opposition isn't it?

It’s number one in the download charts. Looks like bring another daft Xmas number one. 🤷‍♀️

Edited

It's already been announced that it's at Number 37 on the official chart

Number one on downloads, which is what I see reported outside the UK. Sorry for any confusion :)

Haven't heard it, but anything's got to be be better than those dreadful 'sausage roll' songs, by those grim and grotesque grifters LadBaby. 🙄

Re; what a pp said though, I am pissed off with these stupid novelty Christmas No 1 hits now. Makes me wish X factor would return. 😆
