Hate where I live

I dislike where we live and don't know what to do.

We (my partner and Ds) moved from a city to a village in hampshire 2.5 years ago. The village is where my partner grew up and we moved here to be close to his family and affordable housing.

I think the hardest thing is really not finding my tribe. I've noticed my son who is now 6 also hasn't made many friends at school. In our previous home city things just seemed to flow. The children were friendly to my son. Other mums smiled. Here I'm just feeling like a misfit.
Everybody hangs out in their long term friendships groups, which is lovely for them but not so much for us.

When I express how I feel to my partner I just get shut down and accused of being negative. Just for context I've lived in a few different places previously and this is the first time I've struggled.

What to do?!

Have you tried all the usual things, such as joining groups etc? Is there something you could volunteer with? I had a similar situation 10 years ago but found that volunteering to help on the village hall committee really broke the ice. I got involved with arranging the fete and a Christmas event and suddenly people who had not said good morning previously started to engage. My son also joined the local rugby club and that helped massively.
