Had an absolute moan about my boss. Now very worried, does anyone know if teams calls are automatically saved somewhere? The audios?

No if they are recording there has to be a notification that pops up, by continuing you agree to it.

Oddsquadnumber1 · 18/12/2024 19:13

No

tommika · 18/12/2024 19:15

Automatic recording can be configured
If it is on the meeting is recorded, if not then it isn’t recorded unless a member of the meeting hits record (if they have permissions, and it is shown as a notification).

Check for transcript settings as well

DetestTheClockChange · 18/12/2024 19:26

I worry about this every day Grin

DeliciousApples · 18/12/2024 20:02

Check the names of the people in the meeting while it is on. If one is an AI it will be taking Minutes.

A banner pops up at the start of its being recorded by Teams itself for Minute taking purposes as requested by an attendee.

Teeeams · 18/12/2024 20:19

@DeliciousApples what is AI?

This was an audio call between two people

If it was recorded, you would get a notification to say the recording was ready after the meeting.

They're stored via Microsoft stream I think.

Flowersonthetv · 18/12/2024 20:23

If you just called each other and nonone recorded if you are fine! I moan all the times on teams hahahah!

Darlinghag · 18/12/2024 20:25

No youre fine 😂 literally moan all the time. IT can access chats and things though, so keep to calls!

coralsky · 18/12/2024 20:26

No

Teeeams · 18/12/2024 20:26

Ours auto disappear after 30 days.

Do the deleted ones still remain accessible do you know?

Poppinjay · 18/12/2024 20:39

If the meeting was recorded, AFAIK the recording will be in the OneDrive of the person who started the meeting. If you started the meeting, that should be reassuring.

I think to do that requires significant cost and time investment - not like remote logging into your accounts. My place would only attempt it if there was a criminal case or something, not if I was slagging off someone in another dept for being a lazy twat 😂

northernballer · 18/12/2024 21:06

You can crop a recording if you slag people off at the end and forget it's still recording. Just don't forget to delete the transcript as well 😀

If it is recorded within Teams then all participants get a link to the recording afterwards. It is possible to bypass this by using a screen-recording software entirely separate to Teams but this is very unlikely to have happened. If you were recorded without your knowledge and consent that would be very unethical and the person who sid it would get in a lot of trouble.

DetestTheClockChange · 18/12/2024 21:14

@Darlinghag thanks.

I work for a huge global company so I wouldn't put it past them Grin

Anothernamechane · 18/12/2024 21:28

No. Messages on teams can be checked but someone would really have to be out to catch you doing something

AI is Artificial Intelligence

The transcript option in MS Teams would have just been called a voice recognition function a few years ago but these days AI is a hot topic so anything using any form of AI is explicitly highlighted so Teams has an AI transcript option rather than ‘just’ a voice recognition transcript option

LammasEve · 18/12/2024 21:45

If they are, me and my manager are absolutely stuffed 😁

There should be a popup at the top when recording starts, so you can opt out, and your IT department should have strict controls on recording retention and access. Plus you shouldn't be recorded without your knowledge and agreement.
