Virus every two weeks

AIBU to say it’s normal to come down with a virus every couple of weeks however it’s doesn’t keep you down for long, your immune system sorts it out and you are back on your feet after one day of rest?

Since around September I keep getting repeated viruses. I’m torn between worrying that there is a problem with my immune system because I keep catching everything, then thinking surely my immune system is doing its job because after taking a paracetamol and early night I feel better after a couple of days / a day. But then it comes back a few weeks later and the process repeats but never turns into anything really bad.

Anyone else?

No, I wouldn't say that's normal.

What sort of symptoms are you getting?

NoSourDough2 · 18/12/2024 10:51

It depends, currently I’m in bed with a tight chest, achy joints and just that “viral” feeling. Last night I was freezing and I couldn’t warm up (no temp) my heart rate was 100 at rest (normally 60).

Other times it’s been the usual, sore throat, viral feeling, - never a full blown cold, just what I would describe as virus, it comes and then goes.

To point out I do work with the public - up close and personal (massage therapist) so I will be exposed to germs.

I would see your GP about it as it’s happening so often.

hopelessholly1 · 18/12/2024 10:55

I would get checked out. I don't think it's normal esp if it isn't your normal.

NoSourDough2 · 18/12/2024 10:55

Yes I will book for a blood test. I just wondered if there was anyone else that was similar.

That’s not normal at all. I’d get it checked out.

Beezknees · 18/12/2024 10:56

I don't think it's normal.

kelsaycobbles · 18/12/2024 11:05

It's k no it at all normal and I would take a good rest - week of work if possible doing nothing but eating well , sone fresh air and lots of rest

If that doesn't stop this problem then doctors

NoSourDough2 · 18/12/2024 11:42

It sounds like you are doing all the right things to stay well so definitely worth booking in with the GP.

Did the GP help at all OP?
