Bleeding on the depo?

So I've just started using the depo injection contraceptive.. had my second shot last month and I've randomly started bleeding which has lasted almost two weeks now and doesn't seem to be stopping. Some days it's quite a lot, some days it's drips and drabs. But bright red. My periods were always irregular but never had a period last this long and being on the depo it's supposed to stop your periods so I'm really unsure and worried what's happening. I'm seeing a GP tomorrow morning, they've asked me to come in incase they need to 'examine' me. Can someone please give me some reassurance if you have been through the same? My health anxiety is off the charts. Thank you ❤️

I was on depo for years I stopped all bleeding after the second injection hopefully you should calm down soon and bleeding should stop altogether.I know bleeding can be hit and miss at first with the depo until you have had a few jabs I found it was brilliant hopefully the gp can advise you good luck

Thank you. I've got an appointment to see the Dr tomorrow morning now as the appointment the other day was super unhelpful. I'm still bleeding bright red blood and tummy/back cramps 😫

I bled for 8 weeks on and off. Couldn't wait for the blasted thing to get out of my system.

It's driving me nuts. Saw GP this morning. She done a speculum exam. Wanted to see my cervix to check it but couldn't because I'm bleeding so took some swabs. I just feel like absolute shit. Every day I wish that it'll stop and it doesn't 😪

I was on the depo for 4 years and didn't have a drop of blood, then suddenly one day I just started bleeding and now I usually have at least one short period per depo.

I tried depo for six months, never did stop bleeding. Had almost constant light bleeding the whole time. I stopped it and then had 3 months without any bleeding before my periods returned to normal. I won't be trying that one again. But it is different for everyone and your may settle down with time.

It's a nightmare. Do you remember having any pain in your tummy and/or back aswell?

Yes this happened to me. I only had one injection and started bleeding straight away and it lasted for over 2-4 months, could have been longer I can't remember. It only stopped when I got tablets from the dr. I never went back for another injection and I'll never use any contraception again except condoms. It's all too much fuss that messes up your periods all the time and the drs don't care.

I never had any checks though. She just gave me a prescription when I told her how long I'd been bleeding.
