There was outrage on here, but nothing like the scope and scale and hagiographic defense Meghan Markle receives.

Probably because of the literally thousands of threads knocking her.... just a thought

Manypaws · 17/12/2024 17:51

Let's face it none of them have been above slinging mud when it suited

Charles did not say he wanted to be a tampon

No, he said what if he was a tampon. That's just as bad, imagine thinking that?!

Just googled this. This is the full conversation. I would not want to hear my dad saying this to his bit on the side.

Camilla [laughing]: What are you going to turn into, a pair of knickers? [Both laugh]. Oh, you’re going to come back as a pair of knickers.
Charles: Or, God forbid, a Tampax. Just my luck! (Laughs)
Camilla: You are a complete idiot! [Laughs] Oh, what a wonderful idea.
Charles: My luck to be chucked down a lavatory and go on and on forever swirling round on the top, never going down.
Camilla [laughing]: Oh darling!
Charles: Until the next one comes through.
Camilla: Oh, perhaps you could just come back as a box.
Charles: What sort of box?
Camilla: A box of Tampax, so you could just keep going.
Charles: That’s true.
Camilla: Repeating yourself … [laughing]. Oh, darling, oh I just want you now.

Your dad could easily have had this conversation only he wasn't being hacked!!!

No neither would I but to be fair it was a private conversation

Oh come off it - read the transcript for context; it's been shared twice!

The man was having a private conversation. To me the disgusting thing about it was that it was leaked. Isn't he allowed to have a sex life then if he's royal?!

Never said that. To be fair, I think it was wrong he was hacked, it was by a radio ham at the time. But it is totally cringey and given he never really gave up Camilla totally, makes it worse.

So a woman, you don't know, said she got married on a day when she actually got married on a different day and four years later, this is massively bothering you ... why exactly?

She knew she was stirring things up and upsetting people. Seems like that is her life's mission.

Do you really think that?

Do you really think that Meghan Markle, married to Prince Harry, is more deserving of public outrage and online defenders than a regular, teenaged, black girl who was STRIP SEARCHED, at school, while on her period, without a responsible adult in the room, by the police, without just cause? Because there have been thousands of threads on MN "knocking" her?

Do you truly believe that?

Manypaws · 17/12/2024 18:03

I don't care what a couple say to each other but I do care that an adulterer is head of the church, I think that's a more relevant issue

You have mis-read my post. There should've been more outcry about the young girl and that disgusting strip search.

Twisting my words there.

It would be the best thread ever, but from Harrys point of view.

"My brother pushed me over and I fell on the floor of my free house"
"My free house isn't big enough"
and the classic
"The tax payer paid three million quid for my wedding and I'm still not happy!"

So, it’s okay to get assaulted…if it happens in a free house? Got it.

the rest is laughable but that is telling

How many cringey things have you ever said that wouldn't come over so well if they were put in the public domain?

It's my understanding that he went back to Camilla when his marriage failed, and that Diana had taken several lovers, some of them married, over a period of time? He should have married Camilla in the first place.

@Manypaws does the church teach compassion and forgiveness? and given that Henry VIII was the first governor of the church and kings like Edward VII have also held the role, it makes Charles look like a virgin!! 🙄

Manypaws · 17/12/2024 18:11

Henry vlll is a poor bench mark

I would think as leader he should be setting an example but yes he undoubtedly should have married Camilla

Whatafustercluck · 17/12/2024 18:12

Did they risk British security and interests by forming a dubious close connection with a Chinese spy? No, they did not. Do they have history of cavorting with very young girls who have been procured by a sex trafficker and abuser of underage girls. No, they have not. I find this perpetual H&M character assassination perplexing and irritating in equal measure when you look at the very low standards they're surrounded by.

I like the Christmas card. I have no strong feelings against the other royals, other than the one alluded to above.

needsomewarmsunshine · 17/12/2024 18:12

I was wondering about the OP, sarky, rude and generally dismissive of everyone then she flounced because "I bored". No love, you flounced because you came across as a hitch and were called out on it when you probably thought everyone would agree with you and they didn't.

LessonsinChemistryandLove · 17/12/2024 18:14

Okay so he didn’t say he wanted to be a tampon my bad! Either way, I’m sure it wasn’t very nice for Harry to hear the things his dad has said about being married to his mum and what he’d like to do with his mistress!

I don’t particularly care about H&M or the RF in general. I do sometimes feel the need to comment though because the level of hate she gets is off the scale and not at all proportionate to anything she or he have actually done. The whole family are a bunch of weirdos and do weird shit, not sure why H&Ms weird shit is so much worse.

These threads do make me laugh though. The anger expressed talking about people you don’t know who are talking about their own family, who you also don’t know is hilarious. The RF as a whole are a joke and really should all just disappear and start spending their own bloody money!

Got what? A fictional mumsnet thread?

winter8090 · 17/12/2024 18:19

Another poor attempt at repairing their reputation.

WhoStoleYourHighHorse · 17/12/2024 18:27

Perfectly reasonable card and, let’s be honest, there are huge numbers of people who will find fault with whatever H & M do.

Well, it's a bit silly to be all "Oh, what on earth have they done wrong?" when the news has been full of all the horrible things they've done. You can look it up, if you don't usually follow the goings-on of the world.

I did not say "oh what on earth have they done wrong?" I merely expressed bemusement at the extent of the ire and rage they seem to provoke in some quarters and mentioned that I do not take an interest in the doings or perceived misdeeds of the royal family. Not really interested in exploring the details that seem to exercise the imaginations of so many although the vehemence of both their detractors and supporters. I do however take a very dim view of Prince Andrew but his behaviour does not seem to enrage people they way M and H do

I'm beginning to think some people are on overtime or bonus for the length of time they spend defending someone they do not know or never met with so much veracity 😅
