All these years on and I still can't work out why so many people are so vested in defending a patently indefensible (in some respects) person. Such strong language, insults thrown, eyes rolled, combative language, relentless posts.
I could understand this in a black-and-white situation where one poster is trying to claim that black isn't white/vice versa. But with Meghan and Harry there's zero clarity, perhaps the one thing everyone can agree on. So I just can't fathom that absolute, deferential, sycophantic, aggressive defense of them by some posters.
A year and more ago I thought they were paid posters. Before that, I thought it was well-meaning posters riding the DEI train off the back of the racist trolling Meghan received. Neither of those cut the mustard anymore, now that they're settled and established in their California life and aren't doing anything especially newsworthy. And I've never bought the "I just hate online bullying of women of any kind", because you only ever see this kind of defensive posting wrt Meghan Markle, never wrt actually newsworthy women and girls like, say, Child Q (who I won't name for her protection), the black teenaged girl from Hackney who was strip searched by the police at school while on her period without a responsible adult in the room, without valid cause. There was outrage on here, but nothing like the scope and scale and hagiographic defense Meghan Markle receives.
I hope I'm elucidated one day. Maybe there's a PR firm somewhere behind it all, because it just doesn't stack up to me.
