Rug under kitchen table?

Hosting Christmas, we have a cool/cold kitchen with tiled floor. Thinking about a rug under the table to help with warmth.

On photos the rugs are always way bigger than the table and chairs but I don't have loads of space. Would you recommend a rug that fits neatly under the table, or go as big as possible to go under the chairs as well?

I can't picture what would look ok.
Thank you!

You'll struggle moving in and out if the chairs have to move on and off it. You really need a large one.

As big as possible so the table and chairs fit on it.

Go bigger than you think! As big as you can.

Is a dining table rug really a thing???

Can’t you just get a portable radiator instead

For me it would depend on whether this was just a quick fix for Christmas or whether I wanted something nicer/more permanent.

For a quick fix, I'd probably buy a couple of those rubber-edged runners from the supermarket/DIY store - easy to lay, hoover, etc. and no thick edge to trip over.

Thanks all, I'll have another think
