(Totally inspired by another thread..)

AIBU to ask what your perfect man's clothing would be? With as many details as possible please! Maybe also, as this is all for fun, your clothing nightmares.

I personally quite like skinnyish jeans on a guy, otherwise plaid shirts and layers, smartish but hints at outdoorsiness and practicality. Maybe my wildest fantasies could include a fine suit. My nightmare would be tracksuit. Joggers.

Groomed hair and beard with scented beard oil.

Thin roll neck sweater in mulberry or moss green.

Tailored tweed jacket lined in mulberry or moss green paisley.

Dark blue or camel belted chinos or dark blue jeans, no rips. Crisp. Dark brown Chelsea boots, preferably from Jeffrey West.

First thing I noticed about DH was his gorgeous boots. The man has style.

Hun, I know he looks good but he's been married a few times and there are rumours that he murdered two of his wives. You're going to have to have him on a tight leash and do not tolerate any controlling behaviour from him.

You might want to talk to Women's Aid about him and I worry you might have a trauma bond...

Just saying. Stay safe.

🤣🤣🤣

I am loving reading people’s descriptions of their husbands! There’s a real warmth and tenderness to these comments and it’s really nice.

Agree. That's what I picked up on, too.

Manypaws · 16/12/2024 16:31

My ideal man is Thor so his usual outfit really.... well minus the top

Crisp dark blue jeans, well-fitted plaid shirts. Short sleeves rolled up to the elbow. Sometimes no shirt when he’s on the beach or doing physical work. A soft, worn, tight t shirt when he’s exercising. Twinky eyes the colour of whiskey and amber, with bright whites. Deep black hair with salt and pepper lights. A cheeky smile and rough hands that are gentle with children and animals.
I'm loving this. It's very reminiscent of the Mills and Boon books I discovered as a teen. I really hope it's all true, and not just a fantasy and the real husband dresses like Frank Gallagher Xmas Wink

Mirenamirena · 16/12/2024 16:38

DP is a pretty smart dresser so, when we’re not slobbing out at home, he does make some effort and looks good however I cannot get him to buy a midnight blue velvet dinner jacket as I think he would look great in one. He has a navy moleskin jacket and I have to make do with that instead.

tobee · 16/12/2024 16:47

Nothing like Dh dresses.

My dsis and I used to talk about this when we were teenagers. Blue jeans and old fisherman's jumper over a pale shirt. Nice shoes. Must be clean and smell of cleanliness. But maybe the odd bit of oil paint on jumper - so arty.

catin8oots · 16/12/2024 16:47

My latest fuckboy (well he's 57) wears these checky trousers that hug his bum. White shirts and waistcoats.

I drool the minute I catch sight of him 😀

FindingMeno · 16/12/2024 16:51

Outdoorsy in a viking sort of way.
Definitely not wearing business clothes.
Not clean shaven.

Thank you for the heads up. I have been concerned that he always mentions having an axe to grind whenever I talk about the Pope. Should I LTB?

WalterdelaMare · 16/12/2024 16:54

In the summer, my (slim) husband often wears a linen shirt with the sleeves rolled up and shorts with Birkenstocks. Like many men, he has very good legs which are always tanned. I just love this look on him, it looks effortlessly stylish.

That 18th century Naval gear wot Sean Bean wore in Sharp. Oh my word.

In addition to my last post, DP is also an army officer - his dress uniform is a thing of wonder swoon

Haha no he’s sitting next to me dressed in burgundy cords and a plaid shirt as we speak, chuckling mightily at my heart eyes description of him 😁

Well I would have a plan before you go because you're at you most vulnerable then. Probably best not to talk about the Pope. His best mate Tommy Cromwell helped him when he was divorcing his first wife and probably arranged the hitman for his second wife. And maybe for his fifth wife as well. But Tommy's in jail now and they say your DP grassed him up and Tommy had better keep a lookout in case he's for the chop as well.

His other mate, Tom More disappeared years ago because he said he shouldn't divorce his first wife and people think he was done in as well. I just think he's a pretty dangerous man to be around.

Maybe you could just stop wearing makeup and catch something disfiguring? He divorced his fourth wife because he thought she was ugly. But I'm only saying that for your safety. If only his third wife hadn't died - she had shocking care after her son was born - but apparently he really loved her.

Anyway I hope you take care of yourself. We're here to support you x

I've seen this portrait in real life. It was on a small pedestal and the codpiece was at eye level. You're a lucky woman @Mansionscoldandgrey

SoySaucy · 16/12/2024 17:27

A slim fit suit with nice shoes! That’s the ultimate.

also love dh in skinny jeans (yes I know they’re not in fashion anymore!) and a nice jumper with desert boots and a beanie hat.

Justlovedogs · 16/12/2024 17:43

My DH in a suit, white shirt and tie. He's big built and quite muscular without being OTT and the suit makes him look twice as big! Total swoon material for me ❤️.

GidgetGirl · 16/12/2024 17:44

Hmmm, depends on the man but the following looks always turn my head..

  1. The scruffy intellectual/antique dealer. Corduroy trousers and a slightly ill-fitting jacket which had probably been quite smart about 5 years ago but is looking a bit tired now. Looks like he smells of old books and/or furniture polish and probably has some nice jumpers. Clean shaven with glasses and a good mop of greying hair.
  2. The ageing indie boy. Probably in his early 50s now but still looks good in striped tops, suede jackets and 60s-adjacent vintage. Probably plays jangly 60s indie in a group that had a low level of success in the first half of the 90s but never really made it. Clean shaven with glasses and a good mop of greying hair.
  3. The Regency older man. I've had plenty of close and direct experience of Nos.1 & 2 above, but since I haven't got a time machine this one is confined to the realms of fantasy. Think Mr Bennet (him over Darcy any day) from the 1995 Pride & Prejudice, or for a Victorian version, Michael Caine in The Muppet Christmas Carol.

Turn offs:

  1. Skinny jeans
  2. Beards
  3. Fades
  4. Horrible tight suits
IAmInTheBath · 16/12/2024 17:46

A three piece suit with a tie.

Uokhunnnn · 16/12/2024 17:57

Quality basics in all natural fibres: straight jeans, chunky knit jumpers or plaid shirts in tasteful colours, nice sturdy leather boots, moleskin jacket. No sportswear. Never a tie. Basically DH on a good day!

Ihopeyouhavent · 16/12/2024 18:03

Tan shoes, lace up with a while sole. Cream chinos and a tan belt. White shirt, thick material, couple of buttons undone and sleeves rolled up, pref showing off tanned arms. Nice watch and sunglasses
