(Totally inspired by another thread..)

AIBU to ask what your perfect man's clothing would be? With as many details as possible please! Maybe also, as this is all for fun, your clothing nightmares.

I personally quite like skinnyish jeans on a guy, otherwise plaid shirts and layers, smartish but hints at outdoorsiness and practicality. Maybe my wildest fantasies could include a fine suit. My nightmare would be tracksuit. Joggers.

Anything that Stanley Tucci wears - I love his relaxed stylish look.

GoldsolesLugs · 16/12/2024 14:42

Kaftan and a bell

DotComMillionaire · 16/12/2024 14:46

the suggestions here are worse! White t shirt and jeans no thanks, tracksuits, skinny jeans, no socks, noooooo I hate the way men dress these days

I think when I say medium long it’s Henry Cavill to Patrick Dempsey length. Nothing crazy 😂

😄 patrick dempsey length is perfect

AllProperTeaIsTheft · 16/12/2024 15:02

Expensive, classy suit worn with a good shirt, no tie, top buttons undone. Think Tom Hiddleston in The Night Manager.

Casually - straight jeans and a casual shirt. Really good, proper wool jumper.

No tracksuit, jogging bottoms, football shirts etc. Short hair. Clean shaven.

TwoLeggedGrooveMachine · 16/12/2024 15:10

Jeans, Converse, Band t-shirt or good quality casual shirt (surf or skater brand). Hair not too long but tousled dark brown waves. I hate suits and uniforms. I like a comfy, casual guy to snuggle with.

bifurCAT · 16/12/2024 15:11

I think we need pictures, i.e. of celebrities wearing the getup to see how it really looks.

RedPony1 · 16/12/2024 15:34

Pretty much anything blue collar😁

AnyoneSomeone · 16/12/2024 15:42

Casual anything really. Hate suits and formal clothing on men.

GiddyRobin · 16/12/2024 15:59

Pretty much how DH dresses! Usually a shirt with a waistcoat, sometimes a tie and he has been known to don a cravat! Pinstriped style trousers, suit jacket.

Alternatively, a nice pair of non-skinny jeans or slacks, and one of those thick patterned jumpers that always look a bit Christmassy. Shirt collar optional.

I bloody love it when he rolls up his sleeves, too. 😍 Man dresses like he was born to do the job he does (historian/professor) and it makes my day!

betterangels · 16/12/2024 16:06

Black jeans, white shirt, black jacket, black Chelsea boots, all well worn and not new/crisp.

Yes to this. Blue shirt also good.

Mansionscoldandgrey · 16/12/2024 16:07

I like DH to make an effort

I mean, this does sound really good. Lucky you 😅

coxesorangepippin · 16/12/2024 16:08

Old faded light blue jeans, worn at the knee

Bare feet

A washed out stripey shirt

A good tan, lines around the eyes and thick greying hair

Twinkly eyes

Preferably holding a dog

coxesorangepippin · 16/12/2024 16:09

N.b..

worn at the knee - meaning that they are worn through on the knees - he doesn't have knee length jeans on!

Hahaha

KnitFastDieWarm · 16/12/2024 16:09

Exactly what my DP wears, basically. Corduroy and velvet, tweed, knitwear (made by me), aged leather, silk lined jackets. Shades of deepest autumn - aubergine, moss, russet. Crisp dark blue jeans, well-fitted plaid shirts. Short sleeves rolled up to the elbow. Sometimes no shirt when he’s on the beach or doing physical work. A soft, worn, tight t shirt when he’s exercising. Twinky eyes the colour of whiskey and amber, with bright whites. Deep black hair with salt and pepper lights. A cheeky smile and rough hands that are gentle with children and animals.

But more than that, I like a man who is confident and thoughtful in what he wears - regardless of whether I vibe with his personal taste or not. It’s an attractive quality in both men and women.

He is a very good dresser! Have to say it made a nice change after exes who would go out in stained shirts or tracksuit bottoms if they could. 😂

I do love a little hint of Victoriana too. Just subtle things like a pocket watch, etc. Or a nice flannel shirt if he's doing garden work.

I need to go and add more clothes to his Christmas present list now, haha! 🤣

ThatTealViewer · 16/12/2024 16:15

A tailored Brioni suit. Nice shoes - Barker or Church’s. Crisp white shirt. Quirky cuff links. Striped socks. Short hair, short groomed beard. Absolutely no jewellery other than a nice watch. No aftershave!

Basically DH when I first met him. I swooned. 🤣

I still fancy him unshowered, in a t-shirt and joggers on a Sunday morning, covered in whatever DC have most recently chucked at him. But, he looks GORGEOUS when he’s all dressed up.

This sounds fun, too!

I am loving reading people’s descriptions of their husbands! There’s a real warmth and tenderness to these comments and it’s really nice.

Mrsttcno1 · 16/12/2024 16:22

Exactly like my husband dresses to be honest.

Dressed up for work in his tailored suit, perfect white shirt, tie & tie pin (or after work no tie & top few buttons undone, shirt sleeves rolled up) with his wedding ring & watch on.

and equally, his white t shirt & grey joggers still with slightly damp hair fresh from the shower on a weekend morning!

Hun, I know he looks good but he's been married a few times and there are rumours that he murdered two of his wives. You're going to have to have him on a tight leash and do not tolerate any controlling behaviour from him.

You might want to talk to Women's Aid about him and I worry you might have a trauma bond...

Just saying. Stay safe.

Skinny jeans, fluorescent coloured boxers, all white Ted baker trainers.

Class

Yes! It's lovely to see! I also have to say I agree in regards to the cufflinks - I love watching DH put his on! I'd be faffing and fiddling if it were me, can't manage anything button-esque one handed!

PontiacFirebird · 16/12/2024 16:27

That 18th century Naval gear wot Sean Bean wore in Sharp. Oh my word.
