I know it's early!! but we have to decide soon if we go to sil for xmas as she has already invited us.

We had xmas 2006 at her house and xmas 2007 at our place both for all the family. She told dh that she felt down when everyone went home on the 26th.

We live a days drive away, have five kids - one of which will be crawling and I feel it's time for a xmas just us in our home.

aibu to say no to dh

I get upset when people start discussing it in September! May is way too early!

but if family start making plans to "be the 1st one to organize something" others can't use excuse that they have already made plans

Well I would refuse to make plans that far in advance-I have absolutely no idea what our circumstances might be in nearly 8 months time!! I am only just getting around to trying to decide what to do for a summer holiday!

It is early to decide what to do but sil invited us when she was here for a long weekend.

She told dh she was unhappy when we all left after xmas 2006 & so wants us to stay longer than last time. Last time was three days - leave early & arrived late afternoon, xmas day, then leave late pm & get back home in the night.

We've hosted three christmases. We normally travel as sils & bil live one hour from each other. pil live the same traveling distance between sil & us.

Before dc me and dh always had christmas day on our own and went to the pub for lunch it was lovely Then once we had ds we announced that we would spend his first xmas day and 2nd xmas day with our parents so they got a turn each and then we were staying at home as ds would want to be with his new toys! This worked really well last year we had christmas day and boxing day just the 3 of us and then on the 27th we had everyone round for a buffet tea. This year I am expecting dd in August and have already told them we are doig what we did last year as worked so well!
