To wish that ‘Mighty Quinn’ by Manfred Mann was number one in the charts ?

This, really.

i really think this song represents the best era not only for music. but for fashion and cars as well (if we can peel our thighs off the plastic seats).

I loved the hairstyles of this era … and also the clothes. I mean it would be interesting to see how many of us would fit into a size 12 during the time ‘Mighty Quinn’ was number one ? (Clue - not me !!)

So, would anyone like to come back with me to this time to find some ‘Everlasting Love?’

… or would the mere talk of such shenanigans make us so hot we’d need to call the Fire Brigade? ❤️❤️

let’s go back to the time of quality music ..

I just listened to it on YouTube after seeing your title - haven't heard it in ages. I'm with you on the music and fashion (though sadly I wouldn't even fit in most 60s clothes these days). I was five when that song came out and the late 60s definitely shaped my tastes in fashion and music.

Written by Bob Dylan as 'Quinn the Eskimo'
((prefer Manfred Mann's version) Smile

And we won the World Cup.

I think I have the 45 somewhere...

WinterFoxes · 16/12/2024 01:45

Can I have Days by The Kinks? Similar era. Golden age of music.

Frostingle · 16/12/2024 01:50

Heard the song on Young Sheldon during a TV binge recently. Not for the first time of course. Hadn't checked its release year prior to this thread, my mum was just born so even my Granny wouldn't have made the size 12. 😅

I'd also go for Tin Soldier by Small Faces.

Ah I know that one but actually I prefer ‘ALL Or Nothing’ by them!

I don't really know their other songs, I just remember Tin Soldier from hearing it on the radio back in the day!

JuliaLivilla · 16/12/2024 03:39

I also liked the movie "The Mighty Quinn"(1989) with a rather gorgeous and youthful Denzel Washington. The song, if I remember correctly, is crucial to the plot.

Bands have all but disappeared from the charts. It’s really sad. Can we get a MN Spotify playlist going to be shared?

The one saving grace is the Christmas charts. Lovely to see music in the charts at least one time per year.

I live with a Harlequin's fan. As a supporter of another team, I hear the song far more often than I'd like really 😂

(Don't tell him, but I agree it's a banger)

RedRiverShore5 · 16/12/2024 06:07

That was a record we played a lot in the 60s in our house and Everlasting Love, I was born in the late 50s

Nope. It has a flute in it and I hate that.

Fellow Quins fans here! That’s what it made me think of too 😄
