To come off Cerazette after 7 months of bleeding!?

Cerazette worked really well for me pre baby so after I had my baby in January I went back on the mini pill in May. Since then I’ve had almost constant bleeding, mostly spotting or a very light bleed but sometimes heavier like a normal period. The doctor said it’s normal to bleed on it and to keep going for 6 months.

It’s been 7 months now and I’m currently bleeding quite heavily and I’m sick of it. This month I’ve bleed every single day. Do I just give it up or keep going? It worked so well for me last time that part of me wants to keep pushing through but 7 months is a long time and my health anxiety is making me worried something might be wrong with me.

If Cerazette worked for you how long did it take for the bleeding to stop? I think it took around 4 months the last time I used it.

3 months. I'd give Mirena a try, or sterilisation (male or female)

I remember last time I did have periods for the first few months but not bleeding for weeks like this. Neither of those sound right for me but thank you.

I take two pills a day and that stopped the bleeding for me. I still get some spotting every now and again but nowhere near as much as when I was taking one pill.

I will speak to my doctor about this in January. I didn't know 2 pills was an option.

Oh yes, they do sometimes prescribe double dose for teenagers for example.

Also you could try other types of mini pill, not just desogesterol.

They can also give you a different pill to stop the bleeding - I’ve used it in the past when going on holiday. That can just reset your cycle and resolve the constant bleeding. Same with 2 tablets a day for a week or so.

it’s def worth making an appointment and discussing with a nurse or other expert as you shouldn’t just put it with it but there are multiple options to try either with the mini pill or instead of.

I will make an appointment in January if it hasn't stopped and get it changed. Such a shame though as it worked so well for me pre baby an I've got a years supply.

I know this is quite an old thread but I’m going through this right now OP! Pre-baby I took Cerelle and had 6 weeks of bleeding then nothing for a year until I came off it. Now post-baby, I’ve been taking it for about 4 months and still having irregular bleeding - at the minute it’s tiny bit of spotting in the morning then nothing for the rest of the day?! It’s been really worrying me as I was overdue a smear whilst pregnant, currently waiting for results but I’m sure it’s to do with the mini pill.

Did you end up coming off it or did the bleeding stop for you? @Inmydreams88
