I always thought JA has great comic timing along with thd rest of FRIENDS. Not an easy thing to do

I agree. They were all great.

But I was embarrassed by Helen Baxendale's Emily!

Flyylf · 14/12/2024 17:36

Eddie redmayne…no matter what character they’re all the same and he just pouts

He was excellent as Stephen Hawkins though.

stargazerlil · 14/12/2024 21:59

Bill Murray, the same in everything Scrooge, Groundhog Day…
and proper cunty apparently, in fact cancelled cunty I think.

StaunchMomma · 14/12/2024 22:00

The Rock was a wrestler. You can't blame him for taking other opportunities once he stopped (fake) fighting, really.

Acting isn't his craft but he's been in a few good films and not been cringingly bad.

Radishknot · 14/12/2024 22:01

He was excellent as Stephen Hawkins though.

But don’t you think it’s easier to act as the above or a psychopath etc as opposed to playing 5 different normal men or women & actually acting different for each one?

Justleaveitblankthen · 14/12/2024 22:01

Andi McDowell in four weddings. Horrendously bad and totally mismatched with Hugh.
Realise this is not exactly current 😂

Ellmau · 14/12/2024 22:02

Oh yes, Andie McDowell was so wooden, you could virtually see her reciting her script.

Radishknot · 14/12/2024 22:02

The Rock is completely believable as an action hero though.

Needhelp101 · 14/12/2024 22:04

I'm sticking up (again) for the Rock. I'd actually really like to see him in a villain role. He can glare with the best of them 😁

Theunamedcat · 14/12/2024 22:05

Emma "wooden" Watson
The guy who plays wolverine I've tried and tried to like him I really can't
Ewen mcgregger he plays kenobi well but that's just because kenobi is in the most part an arrogant twonk
Recently David Tennant I liked his Dr the first time around then they rebooted him and whatever he had before he didn't have this time
The one who plays vanya/Victor in the umbrella academy
Tom hanks just no

stargazerlil · 14/12/2024 22:05

Radishknot · 14/12/2024 21:52

A lot of actors just play the same character & sometimes it works as you know what you are getting eg Keanu or Nicole Kidman. Actors who play different people depending on the role well are actually quite rare imo.

Those people that play the different roles, those are actors, the others are imposters.

Negativefeedback1 · 14/12/2024 22:06

Gillian Anderson. Really wooden and her face doesn’t move.

Radishknot · 14/12/2024 22:07

As a matter of interest, who do we actually like???

Tom Cruise
Leonardo De Caprio

I think the above are pretty good & Angelina jolie & Jodie Comer is fantastic.

kitren · 14/12/2024 22:08

I can’t believe people are saying Tom Hanks and Kate Winslet. Both are fantastic for me.

Tom Hanks is Woody in Toy Story FFS 🤣

Katherine Parkinson - it’s not that she’s a bad actress, it’s that I just see Katherine Parkinson no matter what part she’s playing.
Owen Wilson - bit cringy but also his nose is off putting.
Everyone in the Archers- no doubt I’m misguided, but I always think I could do better.
Sarah Lancashire - I liked her a lot in Julia but in things like Happy Valley, she seems like a caricature of herself.
Julia Davis - like KP, I feel like she always plays the same part.
Olivia Colman - it’s not her acting that’s a problem, it the actoriness/luvvyness when she’s talking about her work in real life. Lots of self deprecation which seems believable but might just be her being an actooor.
Kate Winslet - I know she’s a good actor, there’s just something slightly off, for me.
Eddie Buckingham in Neighbours and the girl who used to say Marcoos in El Dorado.

Watch Julia Davis (and Rob Brydon) in the dark comedy series Human Remains. They play a different couple in each episode and are very versatile IMO.

SleepToad · 14/12/2024 22:09

Miriam Margolyes...screechy voice keeps being used by radio 4
The kids in Mrs Brown's boys (his kids)
Mel.Gibson.

Jean Claude van damme
Any of the older actors doing funeral plan or life insurance adds on tv...you know that the producer has scoured the am dram scene and promised all these old hams "the chance of their lives" and paid them bugger all.

Falseshamrok · 14/12/2024 17:38

Liam neeson plays the same wooden character in every film.

His voice is lovely though so I can forgive him!

nomdegrrr1 · 14/12/2024 22:12

I'm not keen on Martin Freeman. I think he still carries The Office with him.

I'm not his greatest fan, but I think Keanu Reeves should play more baddies. I know it's literally only a few lines, but he showed more acting verve in Much Ado About Nothing than the whole of Dracula. I seem to remember him playing a plausible psychopath in a made-for-tv-film ages ago as well. I wonder if he'd do Macbeth.

I remember watching Doom, The Rock's first film, and he showed hints of more range than he's usually allowed. I suppose it matters what the role asks.

I saw her in a play and she was very good

Radishknot · 14/12/2024 22:15

Liam Neeson. Schindler's List must have been one off. Pretty much every other film he's been in in the last 15 years is the same old shit formula, boring revenge film for which he's about 30 years too old for.

Tbf he just cashed in on the Taken success.

MrsElijahMikaelson1 · 14/12/2024 22:15

Nowfreefromangst · 14/12/2024 17:29

Woody Harelson
Saw him on stage - just awful

He’s so lovely in real life though. Met him once and he was so down to earth

Radishknot · 14/12/2024 22:16

Nic Cage i really struggle with. He comes across really wooden.

He’s good in camp, hammy roles.

MsAnnFrope · 14/12/2024 22:17

Unsurprising the TERF vote is going for the HP actors, you do realise the OP asked about bad actors not people you don’t like 😂😂
I have a weird dislike of Tom Hanks but I can see he is probably a skilled actor.

I really like Nicola Walker not sure why, but she always seems to play the same part. She has the same pausing technique before speaking.
