Russell Brand
He was even banned from the BBC for a while, but he came back!

He wasn't banned for being a bad actor tho!

Zone2NorthLondon · 14/12/2024 19:36

recently saw Ben whishaw in Godot. It was excruciatingly bad, stilted and he can’t act the goat

Lampzade · 14/12/2024 19:36

Nicholas Cage

Zone2NorthLondon · 14/12/2024 19:37

Sarah Jessica Parker.

Keanu was very good in "My Own Private Idaho". Not really lived up to the promise since.

Love my own private idaho and point break, so won't say a word against Keanu 😊

TheCrenchinglyMcQuaffenBrothers · 14/12/2024 19:38

I'm going for...Nicola Walker.

Ubiquitous, and, always the bloody same!

Tough, London, divorce lawyer? Scruffy, Yorkshire, small holding farmer? Gritty, murder Detective?
Yep, I can play those all the absolute same - no one will notice.....

The chap you plays DC Sandy in Shetland. He's so wooden and overacts in every scene. It's like watching a really bad amateur play!

Yes and Tosh isn't much better.

Topsyturvy78 · 14/12/2024 19:39

Can't think of any big movie stars who are shite. But Maria on coronation street can't act for toffee. It's not her acting skills that have kept her on there so long. The lad who plays her son is a great young actor though.

I love him. I thought he & Hugh Grant were great in A Very English Scandal. And Paddington 😊

Sarah Jessica Parker.

I did not "get" Sex In The City at all. Why did they all have sex with their bras on?

Funkyslippers · 14/12/2024 19:42

Lifeomars · 14/12/2024 19:27

That was when I began to think he was really talented and I loved him so much in Paddington 2 .

Me too. Love his recent work. Didn't care for his posh floppy haired roles of the 90s

No nudity clauses in their contracts.

Al Pacino and Robert De Niro.
Pacino has always overacted in a really embarrassing way, though he was good in the Godfather trilogy.

DeNero used to be good...(great in 'Falling in Love' with Meryl Streep) sadly now has the same badly constipated look on his face all the time.

NOOO! Robert de Niro and Al Pacino are two of the greatest actors of all time. They can actually act. I’d agree that De Niro’s film choices have been questionable in his later years, but his performances in his early films, particularly the Godfather II, are unsurpassable!

RichardMarxisinnocent · 14/12/2024 19:46

While I agree that Mel Gibson's Scottish accent in Braveheart left a lot to be desired, I don't think it's fair to judge his acting ability on just that one film. He's played some very varied roles, and I love him in many of his earlier films such as Gallipoli, Tim, The Year of Living Dangerously, Lethal Weapon, Mad Max and The Bounty.

Was she Dawn in Eastenders? If so, then she was terrible!
Just also remembered how bad Jennifer Anniston is.

I always thought JA has great comic timing along with thd rest of FRIENDS. Not an easy thing to do

TrollTheAncientYuletideCarol · 14/12/2024 19:47

Hugh Grant may have been typecast early in his career, but he's making up for it now and showing much more range and fun in his acting, I don't think he's untalented at all.

Many of the muscle bods like Jason Statham, The Rock, even Keanu Reeves are just cast because they look a certain way and all they have to do is deliver the lines deadpan and do their stunts, they are men other men want to look like and so they don't need to be great actors in this scenario.

Lady Gaga in that one where she sings the duet with Bradley Cooper, that was terribly acted, it was painful to witness, I only watched about a 1/3 of it.

Watch Will Ferrell in ‘Stranger than Fiction’, I was genuinely surprised how good he was. I also liked him in ‘The Other Guys’.

I agree. JA is not Cate Blanchett but she's a very good comedy actress, which is an underrated skills.

Hugh Grant has definitely come into his own as an older actor. I don't think he was ever comfortable playing the floppy haired 'sex symbol' as is evidenced by his own admission and whining about having to do the dance scene in Love Actually

TrollTheAncientYuletideCarol · 14/12/2024 19:50

Russell Brand is quite a bad actor, though, he was a doctor in an Agatha Christie remake, and he was just not very good, there were loads of character actors who would have done that part better.
