Villages outside Lichfield or Sheffield, anyone? I’m in a spin

I’m a single parent. I really want a fresh start. I have narrowed down to Lichfield or Sheffield but would rather be in a village close to either (ie within ten or fifteen mins drive). Budget is 500k max really. If anyone has any experience of these areas I would be very grateful! My child is 5 and I would I like to send them private in a couple of years so any ideas there would be great as I can’t see many options especially around Sheffield way.

Sheffield:
Villages outside that are nice-
Hathersage- has train station
High/ Low Bradfield (good luck on finding house there though)
Also lots of bits on the edge of Sheffield that are village like with direct transport-
Dore
Totley

Private Schools are Birkdale and Mylnhurst
Mylnhurst Preparatory School and Nursery – Sheffield

Sheffield resident here. Villages to consider: Dronfield (between Sheffield and Chesterfield); on the south west fringe of Sheffield - Ringinglow; all the following are in Derbyshire, to the south west of Sheffield - Hathersage, Calver, Curbar, Grindleford, Eyam and Hope; to the north of Sheffield - Stocksbridge, Bradfield, Oughtibridge, Worrall. You get more for your money to the north of the city, with the south west the most affluent part of Sheffield.

Independent schools: all in the south west of Sheffield, all well regarded - Birkdale - formerly all boys except for sixth form, now accepting girls in pre-prep, good academically, Christian ethos, DD did 6th form there, did very well and loved it; Sheffield High School for Girls - academically high achieving; Westbourne - strength in pastoral care, said to be less academic than Birkdale and Sheffield Girls.
