About my Made to Measure curtains returning from the dry cleaner covered in hair

I’ve had some décorating done pre xmas and had the curtains dry cleaned at the same time. They’re gorgeeous heavy made-to-measure, and they went in clean just needing a refresh. Went to a well known big brand cleaner, paid £80 and returned to pick them up a week later. I went to hang them this morning and on taking them out of the bag noticed they were plastered in hairs. The lining in particular was covered in small dark hairs (like animal hairs).
I had to make a specific trip into town today to take them back to the cleaner.
The guy working there was so dismissive and even used the phrase ‘it’s nothing to do with me’. They don’t even outsource the cleaning - it’s the same company at a different location.
AIBU to have expected an apology and even a partial refund for the inconvenience and the lack of care they e taken with my curtains? I don’t have pets and I really don’t expect my dry cleaning to return covered in animal hair. A quick quality check would have picked this up, but it’s a little disgusting that they’re putting very dirty things with other customers dry cleaning.

How disgusting! I’d raise hell for this.

That's awful, especially as they were Made to Measure.

Ouch! I would still be there in the store arguing for an insurance pay out for those curtains. Is the creasing in the fabric permanent?

I’m regretting that I left them to be recleaned now. I should have just got a refund and taken them to another dry cleaner but they were dirtier than I’d taken them in.

In what world do you cover a customer’s dry clean only items with animal haïr and not apologise profusely? I would be mortified if that were my business.

Did they shrink them? Surely you should have got new curtains.
I was my curtains in the washer. If they are a normal fabric and quick wash with a low spin is fine. If you have any matching cushion covers or remnants you can wash those first and see how it goes. Line dry ideally to reduce creases

Absolutely vile, YANBU

I'd email head office. How dare they charge you for that service. Gross.

I chuck my made to measure dry clean only curtains in the washer. One at a time on the delicate cycle then line dry. So many things ruined at the dry cleaner I’ve given up
