What do you consider the prettiest part of the UK?

I wfh and can move pretty much anywhere. Giving up on London.

Without being practical ie considering infrastructure, transport, weather, demographics etc - where do you consider the prettiest part of the UK to be? I’m talking in terms of natural scenery and architecture. Or you could split it up.

I personally adore Norfolk. Coastline is unrivalled and the flint and brick is gorgeous. You obviously can’t beat the Cotswolds either for buildings but the landscape isn’t my favourite.

My answer would be:
buildings/architecture - Cotswolds (very unoriginal but I’m a sucker for limestone)
natural beauty - Pembrokeshire

Just hoping to hear about places I’ve never heard of.

Not wanting to offend at all. I LOVE the Pembrokeshire coastline but I’m sorry to say I found the buildings a little bit run down when I visited in Summer.

Where I live is pretty spectacular in SW Scotland, beaches, sea, hills, rolling green fields.

It's not been discovered really yet, house prices are still reasonable compared to most of the rest of the UK.

I always think how lucky we are to live here, especially when returning home after holidays.

Downside, it's miles and miles from anywhere. 30 miles to town, 90 to city.

Is the last one the Heughs?

Ah, no - think I can see a lighthouse? If it’s the Mull of Galloway I remember that solo
visit where we lost my DB for a while and shat our pants that he might have fallen down a cliff (he hadn’t). Happy days.

Cornwall is very special to me, it's unique in terms of landscape away from the coast. Mineshaft towers, scrubby moors and ancient pubs in the middle of nowhere.
It's the south coast from Mousehole, then Porthleven to Falmouth that appeals most rather than the busy north coast. (Although that has its fans too).
I've been holidaying there regularly since I was about 7 years old. We had quite well-to-do family there so we never saw much hardship in the area, a pretty fishing village, although there must have been some.
We went there for the last time the autumn after lockdown and it was mad - absolutely rammed with people desperate to have a bit of a break. Family property now mostly sold/redeveloped.

There are beautiful places all over the UK, but for me, one of the loveliest, most unspoilt and least known parts of the country is North East Essex, starting in Manningtree, the smallest town in England, and continuing down the coast until you reach Maldon. Tiptree and Harwich are part of this area, too. It is not far from Constable country and relatively close to London - there is a mainline station at Manningtree with a very regular service to London Liverpool Street and the journey takes around 45 minutes. You can also get to Norwich directly from Manningtree station.

We had a friend who lived in that area, quite close to Dedham, (which is spectacular.) He would wax lyrical about Manningtree station buffet!

Lived in both the West Highlands of Scotland. and the Lake District, which have both been mentioned. Scotland is beautiful but hated living in the Lake District. Nice to visit but actually living there is no fun at all. It gets over run with tourists and really busy everywhere. No where to park unless you’re up early for a parking space. It also rains - a lot. Back in London now and couldn’t be happier!

Prettiest places for me would be St Ives, Port Issac, Mousehole, Tenby, Beaumaris,Newport,Porlock, Broadway. Lyme Regis is on my list to go to as that looks very pretty. Most coastal places are beautiful to me on a sunny day! Bournville is easy on the eye for a suburb in Birmingham .

Am currently in Lancashire, near Kirby Lonsdale and it is gorgeous.

Such a lovely place to live. We had a house overlooking the Quernmore valley near Lancaster. Lived there for 40 odd years. Sold up a year ago to move in with our son 7 miles from London. The contrast is quite overwhelming as you might expect. Still we’re enjoying the cultural/entertainment aspects,

I haven't been but the Isle of Skye looks absolutely beautiful.

I loved living in Winchester - it's so rolling pretty landscape round there.

I absolutely loved Dorset - not as out of the way as Devon and Cornwall, I love the flint and chalk downlands and the villages and coast.

But I'd live in the Lake District - even with the rain!

Dorset, Somerset, Cornwall, Devon, Northumberland, Scottish borders co. Durham, North Yorkshire, Pembrokeshire, Isle of Lewis and Perth

Antrim. Chalk cliffs, waterfalls, little beaches, views of the Hebrides.

Fermanagh. Deep glens, tree covered mountains, lakes and lake islands.
