Suddenly explicit content on my social media - is it my husband?

Hi all - I’m just looking for some advice. Recently in the last week or so some extremely explicit content has started showing in the reels section of my instagram account. I was wondering if this could be because of what my husband is searching/looking at on his own phone (he doesn’t have access to my Instagram) - could that be possible? It has happened before 😔 but as far as I’m aware he currently doesn’t have any social media profiles, so could this be showing based on other internet history? I don’t know how it works, like does the algorithm work based on IP address? 🙃 anyway, any help would be appreciated. I’m feeling not very confident at the moment and this has knocked me sideways, I just don’t get it, I’ve never looked at content like this

No I'm a bloke and have had some weird stuff turn up over the last couple of months. I think I accidentally looked at a video of some woman dancing...she was doing a kitchen disco type dance more humorously than sexy...but now I'm getting crap basically. Still it beats fluke shots/bad tackles in football which all I've been getting for about 5 years

I got something which looked normal but when I clicked it was explicit content. I know it’s nothing to do with anyone else so I just stop clicking reels unless they’re shared by someone I know. The algorithms suck!

No, it's not possible for things your partner looks at to then subsequently appear in your feed. Your bigger issue is why that's the conclusion you've reached?

LostittoBostik · 12/12/2024 20:25

No it's happening to me too and I don't share any devices with my DH, or anyone else. So it's just the weird algorithms

Sadcafe · 12/12/2024 20:27

These feeds do occur, I’ve had what could only be described as explicit porn on what at first look was an ad for a holiday on Facebook, which is totally against their rules, it’s not caused by anything you or your partner looks at

FrippEnos · 12/12/2024 20:34

I have spent months trying to get rid of these feeds.
I have no idea what I did to start them and clicking on hide feed just seems to bring more up.

I've been getting really gross paid ads on both vinted and mumsnet in recent weeks! Kinda escort type ads on vinted, like wtf. And more creepy/weirdly toned 'how to orgasm' diagram shit on here. Can't explain it but I really don't appreciate it! Just mentioning as i haven't been searching for anything particularly saucy, there may be no rhyme or reason to what you're seeing x
