Watched Colleen Rooney in the jungle and now rewatching the wagatha thing on itv2, she just comes across so well, I actually love the background story and wonder even though they have all this money, I wonder if they ever crave those simple days of being 16 before it all kicked off. Just very normal people.
She seems so strong, classy, kind, just a morally good person really.

@DinaofCloud9 yes, I know. I don’t doubt she’s a good person.

HardlyLikely · 09/12/2024 23:27

What’s admirable about her? I’m asking in all innocence, because all I’m getting from the various comments is ‘Nowhere near as awful as Rebekah Vardy’ and ‘Fewer airs and graces than Victoria Beckham’.

Can’t see what there is to admire

sticks by her multi millionaire partner now husband who cheats again and again and with sex workers

no achievements to her name only connected to his

yeah great role model

She seems like a genuinely lovely person, despite the fame and fortune she comes across as very grounded and someone that would do the right thing.

She clearly adores her kids and knows what’s important in life, so I would argue that she is a great role model actually. Given the number of celebrities that want constant attention and would turn up to the opening of an envelope, she’s not like that at all. Just comes across as a lovely lass. She didn’t go looking for fame, it fell upon her. She’s also got 4 kids so pretty sure she’s got her hands full at the minute!

Spaceotter · 09/12/2024 23:33

She won't divorce Wayne at least partly because of her religion. That's one reason I dislike him more than most cheaters, he's taken advantage of that fact numerous times and shows he has no morals because he does it knowing she believes she can't leave him.

Blondeshavemorefun · 09/12/2024 23:38

I wanted her to win jingle

She comes across as a lovely woman and it's so obvious now much she loves her boys

And was cool calm and collected via trials

None of that stupid screeching grace and Maura did - esp towards the end of series

She def didn't do it for money. I'm sure she will donate some to charity

She did it for herself

Yes I'm sure she will get some tv work out of it. She comes across well and lovely to people

People don't always talk about donating fee

Gemma did. She left after 5 days and donated the whole amount to charity

I only found that out a few months back that she quietly donated it

I thought it was dreadful she just quit and got 99% of her fee

So you can't always know what goes on behind the scenes

Yes it must be really hard to forgive someone not once or twice for being unfaithful

But more that the whole world knows

While you try and sort things out

Yes Wayne was silly. Stupid. Head easily turned

But I do think he loves her and she him

And why they stay together

She could easily leave. Has money. Has a good family support network

I hadn't seen her doc before but knew the story of RV

Sure she will turn up on this mn thread. Sure she was on the celeb one I did

Started watching it tonight so only on e1

I'm enjoying it. Nice to see her from young days

WalterdelaMare · 09/12/2024 23:21

She seems nice enough. But nothing to aspire to. Famous purely because of her husband who has repeatedly cheated on her. I’m not sure what her career could be as she doesn’t seem to have much of a personality.

Plus I judge her on those kids’ names.

I didn't realise you had to have a great personality to have a career. I've worked with many quiet and unassuming people with very successful careers.

As for judging someone on the name they give their children well that says a lot about them and imo not in a good way.

Coleen is a smart cookie, she did what was best for her and her family. Who are any of us to judge?

Onetimeonly2024 · 09/12/2024 23:39

She came across very well. I’ve never really given her much thought (I don’t follow football and I don’t read the tabloids) but she seems smart, savvy and focused. And devoted to her family. In general, a decent person.

Edited

But they’re not married in the eyes of the church (it was all over the papers at the time — they were warned that the church they had their service in was deconsecrated, and Catholic weddings can only take place in consecrated Catholic Churches, unless it’s a deathbed emergency, but they went ahead rather than opt for a nearby church), so there’s nothing stopping her divorcing him.

QueenCamilla · 09/12/2024 23:46

I can't even imagine what she would do or talk about if she wasn't a footballer's wife. She appears absolutely devoid of passions, aspirations and personality.

Yeah, she's "nice". Does that have to be mutually exclusive with everything else?

What a sweeping statement. You literally do not know her, only what you've heard in the newspaper and the recent tv show if you watched it.

How people can come on here and make such judgements is laughable. No doubt you all have fantastically outgoing personalities have many passions and aspirations and the rest of us are like Coleen.
I know which I'd prefer.

ExtraOnions · 09/12/2024 21:47

She did talk about this in the jungle … yep he cheated on her with sex workers, it was 20 years ago, they worked through it, and are happily married with 4 children.

She chose to forgive him, it doesn’t make her pathetic or weak.

Wonder if she’d have been so keen to work through it if he was working the checkout at Tesco 🤨

What’s admirable about her? I’m asking in all innocence, because all I’m getting from the various comments is ‘Nowhere near as awful as Rebekah Vardy’ and ‘Fewer airs and graces than Victoria Beckham’.

I think it’s because she’s a refreshing change to many modern celebrities. She’s the kind of woman you can imagine being friends with. She’s genuinely kind and down to earth, and isn’t fake. She’s clearly intelligent - shown by the way she suspected and outed RV, and then again in sussing out the other camp!

Wayne did cheat on her and then I think later there was some further dubious behaviour which didn’t go as far as proven cheating again but were just a bit iffy for a married man.

But she loves him and believes that he loves her, and she doesn’t believe in divorce because of her religion. Lots of women wouldn’t have made the same decision but it’s a bit shit to judge someone who’s opted to stay in a marriage which is otherwise happy, especially when there’s 4 kids.

She seems like a devoted mum, and isn’t someone who is constantly showing off to the paparazzi. She’s known real grief - she lost her sister at a young age age and she supports/donates to charities for the same condition her sister had.

I also think she’s possibly underrated. She may be quiet and a bit shy but I don’t think she takes any shit. Again, the way she conducted herself with the RV nonsense and her resilience against a bag of bullshit and lies from trash bag Vardy showed she won’t be cowed. And even during all of that she kept it classy. RV is off slating Colleen to the gutter press - Colleen just rising above it.

She just seems like one of life’s decent people who’s loyal and easy-going. And I have to say given the absolute state of many in the public eye, those simple facts make her a bloody good role model.

I’m not really one to bother much with celebrities usually but I really wish the best for her. There’s not a bad bone in her body.

I think she probably would have done tbh. She could easily have taken millions in a divorce and still had the lifestyle. Her devout Catholicism plays a role in her attitude to marriage, by all accounts. And in fairness, it was a long time ago and they seem genuinely happy together still.

XelaM · 10/12/2024 00:12

Wayne is really punching with her! 😂

KenAdams · 10/12/2024 01:18

I do wonder if she's pulling a Louise Redknapp and creating a platform for herself so she can leave him.

I did feel like she was still quite guarded in the jungle, but she did come across as a lovely person.

Lampzade · 10/12/2024 01:32

MyrtleStrumpet · 09/12/2024 22:43

I think she's a very intelligent woman who wants a career. Her kids are growing or grown and she wants to be more than his wife and their mum.

I see this as a launch for a TV career and I say good on her.

I think she would be good at documentaries.
She had an adopted sister who was disabled and died some years ago. So doing something along this line may suit her
I think she came across really well in both the Wagatha documentary and I am a celebrity .
You can tell that she appreciates her life
I think her USP is that she is quite ‘ordinary ‘ in many ways despite her immense wealth.
She obviously didn’t do IACGMOOH for the money. She just wanted to do something for herself .

.

Agree with all of this

someon · 10/12/2024 01:58

She seemed pretty dull to me. Really ordinary. Better that than an arsehole like Vardy seems to be but I don't really get the gushing about her.

I don't dislike her but i didn't understand how or why she was actually in the top 3!

I thought she was pretty dull i didn't think she actually said much she seemed to just do a-lot of observing I'm the same to i don't get all the gushing either

Zoflorabore · 10/12/2024 02:03

i went to the same high school as Coleen but I’m a few years older than her. I’ve never heard a bad word about her to be honest and although Liverpool is a pretty big place it sometimes feels small when it comes to everyone knowing everything, Wayne definitely has had tongues wagging but not his wife.

She’s more than capable of looking after her kids if she wanted to divorce Wayne, she’s got family support, money etc so she must really love him to not give up on her marriage. I know I couldn’t forgive what she has but that’s what sets us apart I suppose.

Yes, I watched an entertainment show on TV but wasn't entertained by Colleen at all. So no praise from me, sorry about that @Thedogscollar
TBF, the show was a bore-fest generally this year - this is just a special mention to Colleen and her contribution.

And yes, I do have aspirations, passions and a talent that I have had success with. That doesn't stop me being friendly and nice to people and also doesn't make me special (I shoulda' married a footie player for that).

If the role model standard for women is an empty skin filled with "agreeable" and "nice" then have Colleen all to yourself. #blessed #inspirational

Mentionedindespatches · 10/12/2024 02:54

My friend's sister in law is a friend of Colleen's. My sum total of celeb gossip is 'she's really nice.' You're welcome Grin

I don't really follow any telly/celeb stuff, but whenever I see photos of Colleen, I usually think that she's got really good skin!

Mem1 · 10/12/2024 05:28

She was already rumoured to be going on ima celeb. During the all the leaks Vardy sold to SUN so it obviously got postponed while she dealt with that then ended up being sued & before that her youngest child would have been too young to leave id imagine

As for why she did it - lots of people famous or not would love to get on particular reality shows & she was just in a position to make it happen

I agree she's fab & I would love to see more of her but I assume she would have done it earlier had the kids been older & the wagather situation hadn't unfolded the way it did.

the80sweregreat · 10/12/2024 05:29

She was great in the jungle
Seems very nice

Zanatdy · 10/12/2024 05:49

I liked her a lot in I’m a celeb. Seems true to herself and her upbringing despite the wealth she now has through Wayne’s achievements. I like her as she seems a very normal mum, always in the car driving kids around. Sounds like a few of them are in football academies and i’m sure she spends most of her time doing stuff for the kids. When she said the kids have always been proud of their dad and now she wants them to be proud of her - well that was a ‘I’m not crying, you are’ moment.
