Our cleaner got offended

I am confused.
We have a cleaner for a couple of months now, a nice lady, but doesn't exactly stick to a schedule.
We agreed on 2 hours per week after her own assessment how much it would take her to clean the flat on weekly basis.
With the exception of first two times, she started leaving earlier, for a couple of weeks now she is staying no longer than hour and a half.
Yet, she always says at the end - 2 hours done hence x Pounds for today.
Because I don't find money on the street and because there are more things left to do every time she announces she completed the work, we decided to make a list of tasks so there is enough work to use up the 2 hours (which we are paying for).
She was absolutely livid when I introduced this plan. There was nothing out of ordinary on that list, nothing that she didn't do the first time she cleaned the flat. Yet she stormed through the flat for 2 hours to the minute and left without saying goodbye - assuming she is not coming again 🤷🏼‍♀️
I really don't understand people anymore,sigh...

Mine was completely stress free. I paid an agreed rate for the house to be cleaned to an acceptable standard. It was of no concern to me whether it took an hour and a half or three hours, it cost this same. The stress comes with paying an hourly rate and then getting bent out of shape when the job’s done in less than the time allocated.

But that's not what the OP said happened, is it? "She does not manage to do everything she did the first time around."

Did anyone mention OP? I can only speak for myself. 🤷‍♀️

Definitely not on the OP here as there are still jobs left to be done. My cleaner could stay for six hours and still find things to do if I could afford to pay her for that long! She charges by the hour so she should do two hours worth of work. It's a very normal way to work, lots of trades have a day or an hourly rate.

First of all apologies if you’ve already done this as I’m late to this thread and lastly please don’t feel you should need to do this but …

just for context .. could you post the list? The list of what you wanted to have done in the two hours? was is like a whole two hours ‘timed’ worth of a list or was it more of a general ‘Dear Sue, while you’re kindly here for the next two hours could you give the kitchen and bathroom a quick clean, take the jons out,see the beds, hoover the floor, mop and do a basic tidy’ kind of list …

SuperfluousHen · 12/12/2024 16:58

Get a new cleaner.
This one’s a dud.

TreacleTarcleSparkle · 12/12/2024 16:59

make the beds *!
take the bins out - not the ‘jons out’! I apologise!! and that’s why the clever MN has a ‘preview’ button and me thinking I don’t need that pressed the ‘post’ one ..

It is essentially what yo do in each space, but not describing details of how and using what. It included things she kept forgetting - e.g wiping the oven from the outside. The word 'outside' was there because when I asked her to wipe it from the inside (one time she had 20ish minutes left) she told me she charges extra for that.

The list was not timed for 2 hours (although doable), because not everything on the list needs to be done every week .
And I explained that, and also emphesized that list was there should there be time remaining to check what else is there to do.
