To still be feeling the effects of gynae surgery three weeks later?

I had general anaesthetic and although came round from the anaesthetic with pain, it quickly went and I have had no pain since. What I have had though is farting and lots of it, and loud! Sometimes I can't control it. Fatigue. I'm waking up then sleeping for around 60% of the day and then at night. I get shattered so easily and tired. It's been three weeks now. Also terrible anxiety. I should be over this surely?

I am feeling similar to you, although no anxiety. My surgery was just over 2 weeks ago. I am still very tired, very little pain, and not over doing it with household chores. Were you constipated after your surgery and having to take laxatives? I was for a few days, and am still not back to normal yet, maybe this could be the reason for the farting. Hope you start feeling better soon.

I think your organs may be settling after they've been pushed around. If you had a hysterectomy then your colon might be shifting to fill the space. If you're worried, ask to speak to the consultant.

Depends on the surgery. If hysterectomy then recovery is slow and fatigue is normal. It will pass. If you are worried see the Dr.

If it was a hysterectomy, trapped wind etc and painful bowel movements is pretty common (I can still remain the excruciating pain of the trapped wind and sitting on my loo perspiring and crying with the effort of trying to pop out a lone, feeble little butt nugget).

Three weeks is no time. Your body's been through a lot!

I had endometrial ablation and tubal ligation under GA and I was wiped out for a month. The doctor said I should be fine after a week, but I was still really tender at that point.

Hi everyone, thanks for your replies.

Glad to know I'm not alone and that the fact that I'm still feeling the after effects of surgery is normal.

Omg, yes, the constipation, or other times the diarrhea! My bowel movements change dramatically throughout the day, everyday!
