To really, like seriously hate the wind?

I like all kinds of weather, I love the fact that we have different seasons but I really really hate the wind.
It's just so destructive.
Been awake and listening to it for over an hour and it's wild.

Yep, me too! Hate it
It does so much damage

TTPDTS · 07/12/2024 03:57

It's amazing how loud it can be! I'm a huge wind fan in principle, but the destruction is mind blowing sometimes which is definitely scary.

AndMiffyWentToSleep · 07/12/2024 04:00

Me too. Really stresses me out.

motelhotel · 07/12/2024 04:01

I'm also really anxious when it's windy outside. I honestly think it started with the wizard of oz because I've been like it since childhood. I think it's a mixture of that and the storm that Micheal Fish failed to predict in the 80's 🙈

Monty27 · 07/12/2024 04:02

There was a thread earlier can't remember title. People are worried.
Keep safe peeps.

Thevelvelletes · 07/12/2024 04:03

I like the sound of the wind but not the detrimental effect it can have on others, destruction or loss of life etc.

CeeJay81 · 07/12/2024 04:08

Me too. Makes, me anxious. Its getting scary out there! Wide awake and can't get back to sleep. Working at 6am, so no point trying now.

OAPapparently · 07/12/2024 04:09

I can hear things wildly blowing around outside - I hate it and can’t sleep. I keep imagining the chimney falling down and thinking should I move everyone’s beds! I will be glad when it eventually calms down.

BiggyJ · 07/12/2024 04:12

Sorry I'm just having a moan.
I'm in the home counties and it's like a whirling dervish outside so I cannot imagine how those in the red alert regions are feeling.
I hope everyone is safe.

@CeeJay81 are you having to travel into work?

OP posts:
TerroristToddler · 07/12/2024 04:15

Eugh me too. Got to bed late this evening and have been awake past couple of hours due to sound of the wind bashing the garden apart. Given up trying to sleep now and I've just got up and come downstairs!

Nolegusta · 07/12/2024 04:16

I live in a part of the UK which definitely gets more wind than average - I'm not keen on full on gales, especially if I have to get on a boat, but I don't mind a good breeze. It keeps the place feeling cleaner and fresher.

Yea. Only 10 min walk but colleague giving me a lift thankfully. Many places closed here but work in the co-op, so not us lol. I'm just outside the red warning in Wales(got the alarm yesterday).

LightSpeeds · 07/12/2024 04:18

I was so stressed when I went to bed, I stuffed tissues in my ears - but I can STILL hear it. Terrified of it damaging the house.

FreshLaundry · 07/12/2024 04:20

It's woken me up. Fingers crossed everyone in the red alert area is okay.

Sick of these storms now and being stuck inside for endless rough weekends and the kids with cabin fever.

PrincessOfPreschool · 07/12/2024 04:22

My friend works on train networks and said after windy weather there are many lines down due to trampolines on the line! Also if anything metal crosses lines, it can cause the fuses to blow, which then take a long time to change as they can even be buried under roads! (Don't ask!). The power of wind!

Kitjo · 07/12/2024 04:32

Completely agree - I love the outdoors and totally happy to get soaked or shovel snow etc but the wind is just so destructive. It feels so negative from whining and moaning to angry rage - I literally hate it!

Keep safe peeps
Hopefully it will pass with minimal disruption

VacuumPacked · 07/12/2024 05:03

I’m wide awake, hearing that gale rampaging outside, howling
and beating against the windows, as though wanting to be let in.
I’m seriously considering making herbal tea

I don't think this storm is hitting us as bad as some areas, which makes a nice change for us! But yes, stay safe folks.

Icepop79 · 07/12/2024 05:12

Am in the loft and can hear the roof tiles rattling every time there’s another gust. Am pretty certain some will have fallen off by tomorrow

DoloresDelEriba · 07/12/2024 05:14

I find it terrifying. For good reason. A tree came down and hit the side of my house in 2020. Luckily no one was hurt but a lot of damage. The wind is scary.

EmmaEmEmz · 07/12/2024 05:15

We are in a red zone on the Welsh coast.

It's actually terrifying. Things keep hitting my bedroom window.

Kids have managed to sleep through but the dogs are really unsettled.

I think it has just peaked here, about 4 30 when my house was literally shaking.

TheChosenTwo · 07/12/2024 05:16

Oh I might go and find my noise cancelling headphones and watch something on iPlayer until I fall back asleep again!
Thanks to whoever said about putting tissues in their ears, it prompted me to think about what I could do.

BiggyJ · 07/12/2024 06:33

Take care @CeeJay81 safe journey.

Did anyone manage to get back to sleep?
We're all going to be wrecked 😆

DH opened the back door to let our dog out for a wee and she looked at him like "fook that shit", turned her heels and went back to bed 😂

I put earplugs in (cheapo superdrug ones) and managed to sleep a bit more…until jolted awake by a distressed DS who was freaking out because I hadn’t heard him calling me 😖
