Best bed bug treatment London

We have bedbugs! I still can’t believe it. Since June and it’s really starting to get me down!

I posted before and based on people’s advice I called the bed-bugs.co.uk people but they seemed to need evidence of bedbugs and we had nothing but bites - after a clean up we did ourselves.

Cimexa was also suggested and after another big clean up and application went a few days without any bites but now they are back and bugs crawling up the walls and on the ceiling. Every morning find some crawling up from the bed which is against a wall. Can also see on the ceiling random poo from them, like they actually live on that ceiling.

Anyways, anyone can advice a company that is very good and ideally only deals with bedbugs other than the bed-bugs.co.uk?

I feel like we need to properly poison and contaminate ourselves with chemicals to get rig. Not sure how the bed-bugs guys will achieve results with the steam and dust without having to come back (not free of charge)

I just want to cry.

Hi there, did you have any luck finding a company to help get rid of the bugs completely.

Buuuuuuugs · 21/06/2025 06:07

Nope. And they are still here. They keep reappearing in the bedroom in curtain so always clean it up when start getting bites. But they are also in Sofa (I know they are there even though can’t see them for long periods after clean up - did the steam clean ourselves number of times)

Arrrrgggghhhhh

Have you tried diatomaceous earth?
Are the curtains washable?

Hi OP,

Were London based and had bedbugs about 1.5yrs ago, was a truly horrible experience and wreaked havoc on my mental health. But also did manage to get rid of them, so it can be done.

The best and most effective way to get rid of them, usually in one fell swoop, is heat treatment. But this works best if you have a solid / carpeted floor. We couldn’t use it in our house as it was Victorian with the original floorboards; so as soon as the heat started they would have just escaped down the cracks.
so

So we had to get the chemical treatment, which also involved about a £500 dry cleaning bill as took all our linens, towels etc to be cleaned while the chemical spraying process was done. Bed bugs were only found in 2x bedrooms in our house but we got the entire house sprayed. It was a LOT of admin on our side but eventually it did the job.

We used Quick Pest Control and it wasn’t cheap, +£3k. Closer to £4K when you add in dry cleaning and other bits. I can recommend them in the sense it eventually did kill them all off, BUT I wasn’t always overly happy with their service, including the fact that on the first spray they didn’t fully dismantle a bed which meant the spray didn’t kill a bed bug in the crevices, and so they had to come back and do another full spray (free of charge) which was very frustrating for us as it’s a big upheaval and should have been avoidable.

Had them a few years ago and had the chemical treatment. It didn't fully work and the company refused to come out again saying that they were probably in next door house which we couldn't treat. So what we did was:

  • regularly steam beds and skirting boards (think at least weekly) and any furniture you think they might be living in
  • washed bedding on high temperature
  • put toys and similar things in freezer (think this kills the eggs)

Eventually it worked but can't remember how long it took. Probably months.

LoyalDreamer · 21/06/2025 10:21

@SM33 I have come across this company. How many treatments did they end up doing and did you treat the whole house. Do you recall what chemical they used? Thank you!

He came once but the work is guaranteed for 12 months. He treated the whole house. Not had a problem since. That was 10 months ago. I don’t know what chemical they used but there were no Ill effects.

@SM33 thank you! That is really helpful to know!

I hope you get it sorted soon - they are horrendous!

So, yes, curtains have been washed number of times. Black out curtains that shrank with every wash and are not really black out anymore due to the length😂

Used Cimexa as well. And using steamer, too.

The bedbug expert sounds promising

Where in London are you? We just used a company in West London.
They only charged £400 total for on average 3 visits and gave a 12 month guarantee

Buuuuuuugs · 24/06/2025 07:18

@Usernamesareannoying east. What was the company name?

Hey, have you had any luck?

Buuuuuuugs · 28/07/2025 14:57

@YourDenimWriter we had, now, about two weeks ago the bed bug expert in (link provided above). I can’t tell yet if it worked, still having the odd bite but that’s supposed to be normal. He did say though, after 6 weeks of still bites call him and he will come back again for free in 6 weekly intervals until they are gone (well up to 12 months)

Did you have to do much preparation? Did you have to remove any clothes or furniture?

Buuuuuuugs · 28/07/2025 17:03

@YourDenimWriter no, not really, removed all the bedding from beds and under the beds has to be empty as well (one bedroom where no one sleeps but we had it treated just in case as well had lot of stuff under it but he said we can leave it there - as no one sleeps there)

other than that no clutter on the floor but nothing else

OP posts:
Buuuuuuugs · 28/07/2025 17:05

@YourDenimWriter he did say to move the beds away from walls, though, as the bugs will live in the floor (in our case anyway) so need to have enough floor that was treated for them to cross before they get to the bed

Thanks, that's so useful to know. I was dreading calling anyone in as I was mentally preparing how to move everything out of the room.

What did they use btw, was it a spray of pesticide?

Oh and another question (sorry!), how long from the call did it take for them to arrive and do the first treatment?

Buuuuuuugs · 29/07/2025 09:34

@YourDenimWriter I’m with you on that. We had them since about July last year and the reason why I didn’t call anyone until now is I haven’t found anyone I felt will solve the problem without paying for return visits and without having us to turn the place up side down.

They used PelGar Cimetrol Super. It’s apparently supposed to be the best but sometimes the bugs are resistant. On the receipt there were three other treatment options (not ticked and not used) Bayer K-Othrine Partix, Vazor Phepra CS and Diatomaceous Earth.

He was able to come with next few day / week or so.

mind you my daughter just had new bites this morning but apparently upto 6 weeks it’s supposed to be normal, and he will come back if it continues beyond 6 weeks

Bed bugs are the worst. We had them several years ago when we were in temporary accommodation. It was awful we did manage to sort it in the end.

My ds is allergic to them he gets really bad hives and when we had them years ago his lip swelled really badly. He just moved to a new semi independent accommodation and they are in there. So hes not staying there till they are dealt with.

Out of curiosity, did you do the whole house? And you're saying you're getting the odd bites here and there... how does that compare what you were getting initially before the treatment?
