Best bed bug treatment London

Buuuuuuugs · 06/12/2024 11:44

We have bedbugs! I still can’t believe it. Since June and it’s really starting to get me down!

I posted before and based on people’s advice I called the bed-bugs.co.uk people but they seemed to need evidence of bedbugs and we had nothing but bites - after a clean up we did ourselves.

Cimexa was also suggested and after another big clean up and application went a few days without any bites but now they are back and bugs crawling up the walls and on the ceiling. Every morning find some crawling up from the bed which is against a wall. Can also see on the ceiling random poo from them, like they actually live on that ceiling.

Anyways, anyone can advice a company that is very good and ideally only deals with bedbugs other than the bed-bugs.co.uk?

I feel like we need to properly poison and contaminate ourselves with chemicals to get rig. Not sure how the bed-bugs guys will achieve results with the steam and dust without having to come back (not free of charge)

I just want to cry.

If anyone is interested, (and sorry to take over your thread OP!) but I had the exterminators in 2 days ago. So third night in and I'm still getting a few bites, and noticing a bug each day. Apparently this is normal and could take a few days/ weeks for them to die off.

Pallisers · 03/08/2025 03:09

I had them years ago (ds brought them back from a crap university flat - and didn't react to the bites so we never realised) - worst time ever. I had 3 treatments. Put every soft/fabric thing in the house through a hot drier for 40 minutes and then bagged it. Lived out of plastic bags for a couple of months. Put bedbug covers on the mattress. Still got a few back.

So we had a dog sniffer come in and his handler told us where they were and then we had a whole house heat treatment instead of the chemical stuff.

If we ever got them again my second choice (after burning the house down and moving continents) would be heat treatment and sniffer dogs.

God guys, this is bloody horrendous. OP, I hope you’re fully rid soon. You deserve to be, as you have been so helpful to others on this thread!

Buuuuuuugs · 04/08/2025 10:53

@YourDenimWriter we did living room sofa, and the other two bedrooms. Whole flat basically. I’d say fewer bites.

We somehow managed to get bedbugs last year. We called the council who arranged three visits for a fixed cost of £350 in London which solved the issue.

Do your council offer similar?

@YourDenimWriter responded to your other post and only then noticed this one. Was it the bed bug expert John you ended up calling? Just curious.

I did speak to the council exterminators but they required us to empty to rooms as if we were moving out. Completely empty, wash and bag everything and wouldn’t provide guarantee.

I had them in my bedroom, now they are in DDs room. Little fuckers.

I had to steam the carpet, then under the carpet, I boiled all bedding and towels, and I had to get rid of my bed and mattress because it was riddled. I have sprayed over and over.

With DDs room I’ll attempt something similar. I’m going in this weekend, ready for battle.

I can’t get rid completely but I can keep the population down.

Thanks for replying and yes, it was the same people.

Day 4 since the treatment and I've had fewer bites but definitely still seeing them (saw 4 throughout Sunday, one on Saturday, another 2 on Friday, and 1 this morning).

Interestingly enough, the 6 out of the 8 I've seen and then squished, I'd say only 5 had actual blood in them. Which corresponds to the fewer bites I've had. Wonder if there's a link.

Buuuuuuugs · 05/08/2025 08:47

@YourDenimWriter I haven’t had any new bites for a few days now. Haven’t noticed any on the kids either.

Earlier, about a week ago I did find one dead one in the middle of the floor and then another one on the duvet. He was very lethargic, either half asleep or he was dying.

I'm so glad. I was starting to lose hope; I know it's only been 4 days since the exterminator came in, but still seeing the bugs daily (and like seeing 4 a couple of days ago) was really disheartening. I still haven't placed everything into my ottoman bed purely because the exterminator said to stop anything from touching the sides, so thought I'd rather be extra cautious and avoid putting anything in.

I only had the infestation in the one room thankfully, but was told it had been a minimum of 3 months that they've been here.

YourDenimWriter · 10/08/2025 00:01

Update: 9 days since treatment. I'm still seeing bed bugs. Came across 2 this morning. I think I got one bite last night however I'm hyper vigilant in bed so any little feeling of a creepy crawly on my skin, I move.

I'm wondering if the treatment worked at all 😔

Buuuuuuugs · 10/08/2025 09:13

@YourDenimWriter i’ve not had bites for a while, didn’t notice any in the kids either but literally just now found one crawling on the bed. It’s been 3 1/2 weeks since treatment. Supposed to be upto 6 weeks so worried but still holding out hope.

helloquitty · 10/08/2025 09:38

Not sure if they cover London but I recommend a company called Eradipest.

YourDenimWriter · 25/08/2025 11:08

3 and half weeks since the treatment, still seeing some bugs. Getting bites every 2 days or so.

Buuuuuuugs · 02/09/2025 13:33

We have been away for over a week and it has now been 6 weeks. I found a dead bug in the sofa since we came back but haven’t noticed any visible bites

OP posts:
YourDenimWriter · 22/09/2025 01:59

7 and half weeks, spotted 2 last night. Getting some bites tonight too, can't find the bugger.

May have to call the exterminators in again, don't think it has worked.

Buuuuuuugs · 22/09/2025 07:02

I haven’t noticed any bugs or bites since we got back. He did say to call him after six weeks and in six weeks intervals if they not gone, so might as well.

Did you have all your furniture arranged so the bugs have to walk through the treated area? We had one mattress on the floor and he said ideally it needs to be at least 20cm away from the wall, as the bugs will live in the floor and if the mattress is teaching they will not need to cross much of the treated area and therefore might not pick up enough of any of the poison… Equally if curtains are touching bed etc…

LoyalDreamer · 07/11/2025 20:28

Hi @Buuuuuuugs and @YourDenimWriter , any luck with getting rid of the bugs?

Buuuuuuugs · 08/11/2025 12:33

@LoyalDreamer yes, they are gone

LostittoBostik · 08/11/2025 12:35

Just to add this, we had the Bed Bug Expert in after terrible service from Rentokill he had to two sessions but he did get rid of them - we’d also had them for months due to bad advice. Hope you all get sorted. Would definitely recommend this guy.

YourDenimWriter · 09/03/2026 05:02

Might have to call them in again, been 6 months and all of a sudden over the 2 weeks I've spotted a few of them again.

Where did we go wrong? I did notice they used Syngenta Demand as the pesticide, which was different to the one recieved by one of the posters here earlier in the thread

Buuuuuuugs · 09/03/2026 08:33

@YourDenimWriter ahhh, sorry to hear that!! Good luck with the secondary treatment. Did you possibly have some unused room quite far from all other living spaces where they might’ve been dormant?

They did check the other rooms, and there were no signs of bugs there. So no idea what's happened. Wonder if the cold weather meant they were quiet until (up until recently) the warm weather we had caused them to resurface
