As perfectly normal food items such as chicken sandwiches and semi skimmed milk have been declared left wing, I am hereby making the divide

Left wing food = Food, including
bread
butter
cheese
milk
tea
coffee
WINE
all vegetables, grains and pulses and their products
all cooking oils
fungi
fruit
salads (obviously)
pasta, rice, cous cous etc
nearly all the meat
nearly alll the booze.
and fish

Right wing Food:
Foie gras
600 year old whisky
Human growth hormones
the skin of a newly born badger
the last coelacanth
laboratory grown crisps obtained by entering a life long contract with Elon Musk
and they can have parsnips

Surely gammon ought to be on the right wing list...

And sushi?

Centre-left

Though that's because with food i think it's important to have a more specific in positioning.

Bacon? Really? I’m not shifting on my fundamental position (all the food is left wing) but I really have to query this comment on bacon. Surely a mainstay of the early trade Union and labour movement. In lots of mining and industrial communities people might have kept a pig, along with a few hens and their veg garden or allotment. Even as a vegetarian of over 30 years standing I feel I have to say: Bacon is left wing

I'm placing Salmon as right wing - mainly because I don't like it!

Birds eye fish fingers...Right wing ( especially in a sandwich of white supermarket sliced bread).
Fish goujons...Left wing. (Especially if served in a sandwich made of artisanal sourdough bread.)

AngelinaFibres · 04/12/2024 22:05

NautilusLionfish · 04/12/2024 21:05

I was going to say an equal opportunity. Centrist. But I think it's left-wing

The Left wing are happy that Right wing ( fat) people can do something about being fat so Left wing people no longer have to look at them. Left wing people work very hard at giving the impression they are effortlessly slim and therefore would never need Ozempic.

Oh yes!!!!

This has reminded me of some English relatives who love smashed avo on sourdough. Artisanal, organic and made from ingredients (the bread only of course) sourced within x km of their home. They would so often tell me way to eat avo smashed of course! We have avo in my country. We get it fresh from tree. Often same day its picked but certainly within a week. Properly ripe and we mash, I mean smash it on bread, porridge, any meat stew, bean stew etc. Eat it with sugar, honey, and/or lemon. We eat big, fat, juicy creamy avocados 20 different ways yet they still spent years trying to educate me on smashed avo on toast.

Avocado is definitely leftwing

That was my struggle. You tell the truth

I'll bite.
Bread is only left-wing if its artisanal and/or 72 hour sourdough bread. Milk if its vegan/plant based. Organic cow milk is center left. Meat only if its sustainable venison or rabbit. And the occasional organic. Pasta only if its handmade or made by hand in some vague Italian village made from near extinct durum wheat

That's ll be what the far right eat behind closed doors. You could bet on it.

NautilusLionfish · 04/12/2024 22:09

Petit filous were leftwing when I came to this country. Not sure now. But same ingredients, Petit filous left, Frube right

That is so so true!!! Right wing eat, daintly wipe their mouths then tell the rest of us, "that's left wing food", belch!

NautilusLionfish · 04/12/2024 22:10

Veg crisps - Left
Pringles - Right

NautilusLionfish · 04/12/2024 22:11

I should be working but I just have this perma-grin on my face reading this thread and recalling my encounters with food and class in the UK

No! They can't have salmon!!!
I'm keeping tofu as well.
Oh and I'm having cream in my coffee. So fuck you Farage!

Elsvieta · 04/12/2024 20:30

How do we categorize Ozempic?

Right wing. Like botox & lip fillers!

AngelinaFibres · 04/12/2024 22:34

Shopping in Aldi/ Lidl.
If you're dressed in those 'scrunchy bum' leggings ( but your bum has become completely flat after 4 kids )and you're screaming " Jaden, JADEN, get 'ere" at a child who is completely ignoring you....Right-wing.
If you've popped in with Tilly and Tom to get some picky bits " Because it's so much more convenient than going to Waitrose"and you simply adore their German gingerbread biscuits....Left wing.

Ah! Class is not the same thing at all and not what I’m getting at ( as someone pointed out up thread, is salmon really U any more, unless you caught it yourself?) The move afoot seems to be to say that any type of food can be “left wing” - unless it’s dripping or something (even then, is that not rather… retro? A bit Stoke Newington…)
So I am saying yes fine . The food is left wing. Rage, storm, live on beef tea and an alcohol drip. The rest of us will eat the food without thinking about whether it’s “woke” or not.

Right wing. Like botox & lip fillers!

Really stiff hair extensions.
Eyelashes that look like draught excluders.
Humongous eyebrows that are 5 shades too dark for your skin and three sizes too big for your face.Definitely Right-wing.

Coffee is one of the tools of the capitalist death merchants.
Tea as well.

In the last couple of days on here, I’ve seen that an article in the mail or Telegraph said chicken sandwiches are woke, and Nigel F has denounced semi skimmed milk. So be it. We’ll have the food

While I don’t like semi as much as full fat (and tbh, health wise it’s a scam, anyway) I’m not sure why Nigel thinks anyone should care about his opinion on milk. And what’s “woke” about chicken sandwiches?! Does that mean chicken burgers are woke too, since they’re kind of the same thing but deep fried?

AngelinaFibres · 04/12/2024 22:48

Chicken burgers fall under 'beige food' and are therefore Right-wing

Borborygmus · 04/12/2024 23:09

Surely a chicken generally has both a left wing and a right wing?

CrispyCrumpets · 04/12/2024 23:16

Can someone please explain if we can still have naice ham or not now?

merrywidow · 04/12/2024 23:18

Left wing have sour grapes
