...to think supermarkets need to put a sock in the loud pop music?

Isn't shopping in a supermarket stressful enough – dodging fast moving pickers, trying to find where they've moved the raisins to this week, wondering how you are going to keep the shop under £100 – without having to be deafened by disco-volume music too?

Especially at this time of year when it’s all the tedious Christmas songs that everyone's heard a million times. Can't we just shop in peace?

Yep and think of the workers on a 10 hour shift !

I agree in principle, though in practice both my Lidl and my Waitrose are blissfully silent. For a while Lidl kept flogging their app and you'd have to hear 'Introducing Lidl Plus' every two minutes. I occasionally pop into my small Sainsburys and think it's likewise silent. (I don't have access to a big Sainsburys or a big Tesco). Haven't heard any Christmas music so far and hoping that will long continue!

idk, personally, I think it makes the shopping more enjoyable. Shopping is boring and the music is something to listen to.

I've never experienced a supermarket playing music especially loudly though - just a kind of normal, background volume.

I agree, OP. Mercifully Aldi don't do it. Coles and I think Woolworths tend to come out with the loud Christmas rubbish.
