To say Easter is better than Christmas?

You get the same two extra bank holidays

There's more sunlight

The weather is sometimes warm, and even if it isn't you know spring is on the way

Easter egg chocolate tastes better than regular chocolate

It's cheaper (no presents)

Less pressure generally

No. I find Christmas easier. Easter is often harder to juggle with other stuff going on. School holidays don't always coincide with actual Easter.

The glorious 2 weeks of Christmas when you can truly relax is such an important rest time in the year. No demands outside of friends and family. Sitting by the tree with the fire reading a book is perfection!

You don't have to give into pressure and presents.
You can relook at Christmas..
It's not compulsory.

SoNiceToComeHomeTo · 29/11/2024 22:08

Easter's nice but I disagree about the chocolate which is always hard to break into pieces and tastes less nice than proper shaped chocolate..

PuppyMonkey · 29/11/2024 22:10

Nah. You can’t beat Christmas.

elQuintoConyo · 29/11/2024 22:12

Easter is barely on my radar.
We might exchange a giant Ferrero Rocher ball or Lindy bunny but nothing else goes on.
Take the woofing machine down to the beach before it closes to dogs, that's it.

Doggymummar · 29/11/2024 22:12

I have almost a month off at Christmas, I wouldn't do that at Easter, I love my winter hermitting

LegoTherapy · 29/11/2024 22:14

No. There's hardly any Easter/spring Lego compared to Winter/christmas.

Sparklesocks · 29/11/2024 22:16

Something I personally like about Christmas over Easter is that at work (in my industry anyway, I appreciate not everywhere) everything grinds to a halt. The majority of people take the same time off either side of the bank holiday days and everything stops. At easter some people are working, others aren’t, it can be quite stressful coming back to my office after that as some things have moved on/become urgent while you took time out and you have to play catch up. But at Christmas nothing moves, so when you come back in January you aren’t playing catch up. There may be a handful of people doing a few admin-y things behind the scenes but nothing major happens. It’s quite nice as that doesn’t happen at any other time of year.

WickerMam · 29/11/2024 22:18

Nah, Easter isn't really a thing unless you go to church, is it? It always still feels like winter at Easter, but one which has gone on forever. The school holidays often aren't even at the same time. Most people I know just work the bank holidays and save the day for another time. I'll buy the kids an egg, but don't do a special meal or anything.

dollybird · 29/11/2024 22:19

I'm an accountant and it's always year end at Easter so can't have much time off other than the bank holidays.

HaleyBrookeandPeyton · 29/11/2024 22:19

I much prefer Christmas.

But I'm mainly wondering where some of you work that you have 2 weeks off to enjoy Christmas or take lots of time off over it? I work for a local authority & only get the bank holidays off - so 2 days at Xmas & new years day.

SwedishEdith · 29/11/2024 22:19

Ooo, no, i really dislike Easter. I associate it with being forced to go to Mass, daffodils (don't like) in bright but not actually warm weather and being really bored.

But you will get annual leave, surely? There is no childcare round here in the xmas holidays, so I use more leave then than other times of year when holiday camps are available.

BadBarry · 29/11/2024 22:24

No Christmas all the way.
I remember in the first years of going out with DH being really surprised that MIL made a much bigger thing of Easter, she does cards and actual presents.
We've never reciprocated because for us Easter is a bit meh, it's just an excuse for chocolate eggs and that's all.

Precipice · 29/11/2024 22:24

You don't have to hear about it constantly for 1.5 months beforehand, so I'd agree that it's better.

Iloveeverycat · 29/11/2024 22:24

In retail you still have to work Good Friday and Easter Monday.

Justhere65 · 29/11/2024 22:49

I love Easter … less pressure and feels much easier … warmer weather to look forward to …always feels brighter somehow.

Same! I think Easter is a non event unless religious and the Easter Bunny carryon is stupid. Makes absolutely no sense. No one even knows the same version of the story with that one 😂😂🙈🙈
Christmas is cosy and special and brightens up the Winter in all the best ways possible

Wheelz46 · 29/11/2024 23:04

Christmas over Easter here.

I love sitting in my living room with the christmas tree lights switched on, with my cosy blanket watching a good old christmas movie with a hot chocolate.

What I like best is, seeing my kids faces on christmas morning, opening their stocking presents in our bedroom then going downstairs to see if the big man in red has delivered presents.

Ho ho ho, I love Chirstmas

Easter is great too, just not as good as Christmas!

thaisweetchill · 29/11/2024 23:14

I love Christmas, the build up is lovely and the magic for children is my favourite part, however, the way you've put it is right plus you eat lamb which is sooooo much nicer than turkey!

hepta · 29/11/2024 23:18

I also prefer Easter. The joy of spring and longer days and lots of fun things to do again

dahliadiva · 29/11/2024 23:20

I'm with OP. Easter is a miles more positive time of year than Christmas - better weather, more daylight, spring flowers, lambs in the fields, no gift buying, no huge dinner to cook, 2 weeks off work, and just a general feeling that summer is coming 🌞

Allthegoodnamesarechosen · 29/11/2024 23:26

You should rephrase your query ‘ spring festival over winter festival’, because Easter and Christmas are just irrelevant ( and a bit offensive).

Please tell me you are joking. I’m too tired to tell if you are serious or not.

GirlfromIpanemagoestoGreenland · 29/11/2024 23:40

Easter egg chocolate is horrible.
Other than Easter eggs, it’s a non event in my world so the two aren’t comparable.
It’s often damp and drab. Spring is my least favourite season.
yabu.
