Hi, does anyone know about too expensive lipstick brand that stays on? All my life I've looked as if I don't own a lipstick! ☺️

In my life I've owned thousands of lipsticks. I've learned there is a choice between a 'comfortable' lipstick that feels smooth and moisturising, but that comes off at the touch, on glasses etc and needs frequent reapplication; or one that feels tight and dry, doesn't come off to the touch, but either gradually wears away in the middle, leaving an unsightly indelible rim around the outer lip, or flakes off in little bobbles, especially when you try to fill in the middle bit again. Choose your least worst!

I use the 24 hour Maybelline lip colours and they stay on most of the day. They might need maybe one or 2 top ups, but they stay on after having a drink etc.

I use lipcote under and over all of mine as otherwise they vanish on me. Most things stay put with lipcote as sealant.

The only things that don't budge for me without lipcote are red lipsticks from MAC. Ruby Woo would stay put through the apocalypse and Lady Danger and Russian Red stay put pretty well too. Ruby Woo is also the stiffest feeling lipstick I own - so that probably explains it. I use very moisturising lipbalm a lot and exfoliate my lips and that seems to help too. 8hr cream lip stuff or sun bum spf lipbalm are my faves.

I find bolder colours stay better as well, if you use them. I have a great dark pink from Bobbi Brown that is more comfortable and less dramatic to wear than the reds and that usually lasts quite well. My softer colours need more top ups.

I am a lip picker, biter, fiddler and lip balm addict. This is the only lipstick I've found that stays on

I use lip liner as lipstick, then a bit of lip salve over the top to stop it feeling tight.

NutmegsMum · 29/11/2024 15:27

I also use lipcote on a matte lipstick that I want to stay. Mac ones are pretty good with staying in matte. Also like the maybeline 24 hour ones as they don’t budge. I love Charlotte tilbury very Victoria but it comes straight off. I also love the glossier generation g as they last well and also are much more subtle.

2 coats of maybelline super stay 24hr stays all day for me.

GroovyChick87 · 29/11/2024 16:09

I've just remembered the lip gloss kit they have in Aldi now and again is quite good. I think it's called Velvet Lips or something like that and has a lip colour and a liner. Not quite as good as the Maybelline one but it's doesn't come off as soon as you have a drink.

Thank you all. Some very good recommendations I will be following up.

I find Mac and Charlotte Tilbury to be very long lasting. Sculpted by Aimee is very good, also, though not sure if it's available in the UK, assuming that's where you are.

InactionIsAWeaponOfMassDestruction · 30/11/2024 01:16

Another vote for MAC. Plum Dandy in the frosted range lasts most of the day for me. Their lip glass lasts quite well too and gives good coverage for a gloss

StormingNorman · 30/11/2024 01:29

Mac Matte lipsticks - which I wear over a MAC lip pencil so it wears off more evenly.

Charlotte Tilbury’s Pillow Talk - also over a lip pencil.

DramaAlpaca · 30/11/2024 01:31

Another vote for MAC. I don't wear it often but when I do it's my go to.

GogAndMagog · 30/11/2024 01:34

What about those lip blades? You apply and peel off?

Never tried but look interesting!

Katemax82 · 30/11/2024 08:00

Max factor lipfinity. I wore it on my wedding day

magiciansgirlonce · 01/12/2024 17:25

Thank you so much to all. Some great ideas to try. 🙂

Get a liquid lipstick. Like Kylies.

LadyGabriella · 01/12/2024 17:38

Nah MAC is overrated
