to expect MFI to deliver AN ENTIRE BED not just a bed frame???

....given that I've paid over £500, waited a month, and had the day off work to wait in for the delivery. Had the presence of mind to be civil to delivery men, phoned their customer sevice line...'if you think we've let you down, call...' now waiting for them to let me know when they think they will be able to deliver.

What do you mean an entire bed? They don't normally give you a mattress too, you generally have to order it separately. I think that's true of all furniture shops.

CantSleepWontSleep · 29/04/2008 12:31

Did you order a mattress too?

maidamess · 29/04/2008 12:36

Our kitchen from MFI was going to come in a few'installments' according to the delivery man. But my fitters were waiting!

I phoned up the'if you think we've let you down' line (which is free, so always call that one) and said it wasn't acceptable and generally moaned and hey presto parts delivered sooner than they had thought.

They didn't want to pay for different couriers to get all the bits to me and wanted to keep it all until the last item was available. Don't let them fob you off!!

Madlentileater · 29/04/2008 12:58

of course I ordered a mattress too! they now say mattress will be here thursday. Said they had tried to phone to tell us but'phone number is missing a digit' well, it maylooklike there's a digit missing but if you actually try it it works. How do I go about charging them for my time?

My sympathies, MFI are a pile of the brown stuff.

Dh took an entire day off work, to wait for bedroom furniture for dd's room. There should have been 7 items we got 1, which was a bookcase the least useful out of the 7 as we desperately needed wardrobes to hang her clothes in. It was another month before the other 6 pieces turned up.

It was my first experience of MFI and my last.

Madlentileater · 29/04/2008 13:16

well, I suppose I can go to work now at least. But still trying to think of how I can get my revenge on them.

MFI are bastards. We had this problem in 2004. We spent £900 on a divan, mattress and headboard and I desperatly wanted it because I was 7 mths pg at the time and our mattress was fucked beyond usable.
They agreed a delivery date and I was sooo excited. The evening before I got a call saying that it was not going to be delivered but would be delivered in a months time. I was pissed off but these things happen dont they (or so I thought)
The next month I was ready for the new bed, the one I longed to rest my achey pregnant body on when the evening before it was due to be delivered I got another call to say it would be delivered in a months time.
I went mad
The third delivery date arrived and they delivered half of the divan the headboard and NO mattress. DH told them he wasnt storing that and they could bring it back when they had the rest of the order.
I then rang the bed company (rest assured) and they said that although they couldnt go into detail about MFI they could tell me that if MFI ordered 100 beds a week, they would supply 100 beds a week, ie. MFI were not ordering enough stock! In the end I demanded my cash back and went to a local furniture store and they ordered me exactly what I wanted. There was also another similar story in the daily papers about a man who ordered a bed and was repeatedly let down. he walked into the store, told them he wasn't leaving until he got his bed and that he was going to tell every customer who came into the store what kind of company MFI were. Needless to say they got him his bed by the end of that day.
Your wasting your time with MFI, go somewhere else.

Another thumbs dwn for MFI.

I ordered bunkbeds with mattresses - came to over £700.

Day of delivery, no delivery. I rang and they said there was a delay on maufacturing line. I asked why nobody had contacted me to let me know. They said I gave them the wrong number, which was total bollox.

Anyway, said I still wanted the beds. Told me they would deliver in 6 weeks.

6 weeks later, I get a call on day of delivery saying that only the headboards were on the way.

I cancelled order and got a refund.

MFI are a total waste of time. I shall never shop there again!

I TOO HAVE HAD PROBS WITH MFI THANKFULLY I SOUGHT LEGAL ADVICE FROM 'WHICH' LEGAL SOLICITOR.
HE SAID I SHOULD QUOTE THE 'SALE OF GOODS ACT [I'M SURE YOU CAN GOOGLE IT] ALTHOUGH PROB NOT SOLVED BECAUSE I'VE HAD TO CANCEL A COUPLE OF VISITS I'VE HAD WEEKLY PHONE CALLS FROM HEAD OFFICE. THEY ARE shiting THEMSELVES . IF YOU ARE WAITING AN UNREASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME FOR A DELIVERY OF FURNITURE YOU AND YOU ARE GREATLY INCONVENIENCED BECAUSE YOU'VE WAITED I.E. YOU WAIT 6 WEEKS FOR A BED AND ON DELIVERY DAY THEY TELL YOU TO WAIT A FURTHER 4/6WEEKS YOU CAN RING AND QUOTE THEM SALE OF GOODS ACT 1979..SECTION 48 [GOODS FAILED TO BE SUPPLIED IN GOOD/REASONABLE AMOUNT OF TIME]THEN TELL THEM YOU WANT ACTION BY END OF WEEK. IF NO 'ACTION' IS FORTHCOMING PUT IN WRITING [RECORDED DELIVERY]AND TELL THEM YOU WILL GO AND ORDER/BUY ANOTHER BED AND SUE FOR THE COST!
I THINK YOU'LL FIND M.F.I.WILL BE MOST OBLIGING IF THEY ARE IN BREACH OF SALE OF GOODS ACT THEY WILL GET HEAVILY FINED.
HOPE THIS HELPS!

Madlentileater · 01/05/2008 09:26

thank you! I'm working at home again waiting for the delivery, if this fails I shall do as you say. In the meantime I'm telling everyone I know DON'T BUY FROM MFI.
