Apologies if there is already a thread on this?

See attached screenshots

Looks like people have really been waiting on his downfall 🤭🤭

(Obviously, I know it's a serious matter for those who've been victimised by the guy, not being dismissive of them)

Just seems like he's really pissed off his fellow celebs

Thats behind a paywall. What did she say?

No paywall for me - wanted to clarify I do not subscribe to the Express! She said:

Gregg Wallace was a sleazy, arrogant, big-mouthed, oik long before he hit the Big Time on MasterChef. I met him a few times in the early years and even then his ego and his vanity were towering. I remember him once asking me if I thought women were only after him because he was famous.

I told him it was absolutely the only reason they were after him because there was nothing else that could have attracted them.

It took him a while to register the insult because he’s not very bright. But even back then I knew that fame in the hands of a man like Wallace was a dangerous commodity. Because not only did it feed his gargantuan ego, people like him invariably end up abusing it. And the slew of complaints about Wallace over the years would seem to bear that out.

Now he’s been suspended from MasterChef while he’s investigated over claims between 2005-2022 of sexual misconduct, inappropriate language and behaviour, sexualised comments and sleazy jokes.

It’s always amazed me how the former barrow boy from Peckham ever managed to land MasterChef. Unlike the hugely likeable and talented Jon Torode, Wallace isn’t a chef and so is unqualified to judge other people’s culinary skills. But for some reason the BBC and Banjay, the production company that makes the show, were determined to make him a star.

I don’t know how this will turn out but Wallace was, and by all-accounts still is, a dinosaur who sees women as a commodity to make HIM look good. He once said he only dated women who made him feel like he was “riding a Jag with the roof down” when he walked into restaurants. And that definitely makes him a prat.

What’s happening to him now was always going to happen only his ego and arrogance didn’t allow him to see it.

Why has this all come out now though, why not before?

He has also posted a picture of…mud..I think? And said ‘We’re not all the same’

He has so many supportive comments, which is quite odd!

Elvisgotitrightaboutchristmas · 30/11/2024 23:55

It is strange when accusations and concerns about his behaviour have been in the public arena since 2011 and he's widely joked about online as being a creep. What has happened now to take the action now? Either the beeb are hiding something, deflecting from something, or the worst of the allegations hasn't yet surfaced.

ThisAquaCrow · 01/12/2024 00:00

His short video statement today has garnered lots of supportive comments. It’s an odd one.

Putmorewoodontfirelad · 01/12/2024 00:00

Hmm 🤔 yes, who got this all going? I mean, now?

Zippedydodah · 01/12/2024 06:04

RedToothBrush · 29/11/2024 09:28

John Torode would say that.

He's screwed.

He stood next to Wallace for so many of these incidents and never said a word or raised a complaint.

If you were ditching Wallace, you'd probably either can MasterChef completely or give it a make over which binned off Torode in the process.

BBC are unlikely to touch Torode again for some time.

My thoughts precisely.
Quite clearly John Torode has been colluding in GrEgg’s disgusting behaviour by having done or said absolutely nothing. He’s looking equally grubby in the whole sordid situation.

DanielaDressen · 01/12/2024 07:14

What’s really bizarre is that he was given an MBE in 2022 when these accusations were circulating. Can only assume nobody at the bbc thought to warn the Palace.

DanielaDressen · 01/12/2024 07:18

And I agree with Carole Malone that I’ve always thought it’s odd he got the job for MasterChef. He’s not a chef, he’s not even a food critic. I remember some incident where he told a contestant her chicken was uncooked/not crispy enough but the dish (Asian cuisine) is meant to be stewed chicken so not meant to be crispy. He was obviously unaware of that fact.

Lostinidea · 01/12/2024 07:35

@Zippedydodah I agree but his silence is baffling to me, if he didn't know & was horrified or actually if he did know but wanted to pretend otherwise then I would have thought they'd have been a statement before the weekend. I mean at some point he's going to be asked in an interview or something.

Lostinidea · 01/12/2024 07:39

@RedToothBrush 😯 Holy hell that timeline is shocking. But some will still claim it's just bants.

Disagree. He's not equally as grubby unless he's done the same things.

accusations against him are coming from “middle class women of a certain age” 😮 His agent needs to get him off Instagram asap

RedToothBrush · 30/11/2024 22:51

To sum up:

2011 Kirsty Walk incident (not clear if she made a complaint at the time)
2012 Emma Kennedy complaint about groping
2013 Katy Brand on MasterChef - awkward moment broadcast (she didn't put in a complaint)
2014 Gregg Wallace on Strictly Come Dancing - awkward inappropriate moment broadcast. Aliona Vilani seems to have made it clear just how much she dislikes him.
2014/5 Georgia Harding complaint about behaviour on Eat Well for Less
2017 Aasmah Mir complaint
2018 Wallace officially warned about his conduct on Impossible Celebrities.
2022 Dawn Elrick complaint on behalf of a number of production staff who were told they had to waive their anonymity and report individually
2023 Nestlé bans Inside The Factory from their premises due to Wallace's behaviour
2023 Wallace does controversial C4 hoax programme about 'genetically engineered human meat'
2024 Everything comes out publicly.
Today Wallace posts a picture of a gingerbreadman in cream... (Doesn't suggest he feels remorse) He's also like a comment which reads:
"Isn't it a double standard to drool over Nigella Lawson, who has built a career on licking a spoon seductively, while flinching at Gregg's 'sexist' banter."
He really doesn't get it does he?

There's also various popbitch articles that I don't have dates for, but which actually name him, suggesting they were happy for him to go legal on them...

This looks like ANOTHER car crash for the BBC.

Good to see Nestlé acting as a workplace should

Here's the quote: "I can see the complaints coming from a handful of middle-class women of a certain age, just from Celebrity Masterchef. This isn't right."

That's infuriated me. Are we meant to just ignore it as it's middle class women of a certain age? And what's it just being celebrity masterchef got to do with it.

He's digging a hole.

AndreaB220 · 01/12/2024 07:54

If Greg did humiliate Penny and Rod was so angry, why didnt he say something at the time and not jump on the me too movement???

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 01/12/2024 07:56

Wallace should perhaps reflect (something he clearly isn't good at doing, but anyway) that middle-class women 'of a certain age' Hmm are probably a very substantial part of the audience for terrestrial TV, especially the BBC and Masterchef, and therefore will be amongst the dwindling group paying the licence fee. We pay your wages, numpty!

DanielaDressen · 01/12/2024 08:16

What’s he insinuating? That middle class , middle aged women over react? Or make the whole thing up? Just don’t have a sense of humour for bantz? 🤷‍♀️

HarrietBond · 01/12/2024 08:19

Putmorewoodontfirelad · 01/12/2024 00:00

Hmm 🤔 yes, who got this all going? I mean, now?

From what I can tell, BECTU (the union for those working with (he might think ‘for’) Greg raised concerns two years ago that complaints about him weren’t being addressed. Journalists then took this up and carried out quite a long investigation.

Quite what sparked BECTU to complain in 2022 isn’t clear though. Maybe just the weight of complaint about him from members?

Lostinidea · 01/12/2024 08:19

@Blimeyitscold Oh. It’s our fault.

Ah of course, silly old us! Damn those silly, snowflakey little women who can't take a joke and/or compliment from a poor misunderstood cheeky chappy.

Probably that they don’t get his man of the people sense of humour.

What he really means is that they don’t matter.

Putmorewoodontfirelad · 01/12/2024 08:21

@DanielaDressen agree. I stopped watching it years ago when he joined the team. I couldn't fathom (and still can't fathom) why John Torrode and Gregg Wallace need to speak so loudly when they are stood next to each other. GW is an awful presenter and an odious human being.
