The BBC knew what was going on and ignored it.

They knew with all of them. Every single male presenter that's left the Beeb in disgrace recently has rightly had an investigation (or several) into their behaviour but then maybe at worst a tiny slap on the wrist. All whilst being retained on full pay. No wonder some of them used to look so bloody pleased with themselves 🤢

Just seen an article with a video of his remark to Katy Brand as she has reacted/released a statement about it. If something like that gets aired I’m not shocked that he’s even more vile off screen

Sorry - just thought I'd add something after chatting with my DH about this...my experience of him was around 17/18 years ago. The BBC KNEW what he was like that long ago at least, and there'll be countless people who'll be able to confirm the fact.

'The BBC' often isn't one workplace. MasterChef is made by a production company called Banijay, Repair Shop - with it's own presenter issues - is made by Ricochet. It's a bit like saying Tesco has an issue with product safety if they had to recall say a Heinz soup and a Kellogg's cereal.
That is one of the reasons bad behaviour goes unchecked for so long, as the industry is so transient. The likes of Gregg might make few inappropriate comments on one job, that the production company either deals with or doesn't. He then moves to a different job with a different company, working with completely new people where he again makes some comments. The second company will have no idea, beyond potentially the industry grapevine, that this is an existing issue on record elsewhere. Even if he returns to the first company he would likely be working with an entire new team of freelancers as almost everyone is hired just for that specific job.
There have been moves in recent years to try to join things up better so it doesn't take 20 years before people's bad behaviour catches up with them, but they haven't gained much traction yet.
