Low productivity and wages down to people feeling what is the point?

I’ve just read a report that shows productivity and wages are at their lowest since the mid 2000s. With minimum wage set to be around £25,000 next year am I wrong to think people just feel jaded and short changed? People used to think of 30-40k as being well paid but it’ll be just above minimum wage soon for many skilled jobs that have needed a degree/time spent climbing the ladder etc. With pay unlikely to rise much for those in the middle am I wrong to think people will just be put off taking the next step on the ladder for what equates to little change in pay but more work and stress? There seems little incentive to motivate people with stagnant wages and crazy house prices which are out of the reach of many and will remain so.

I mean I think people are already not taking the next steps like you’ve said. Early retirement is rocketing!

For a net increase of £50 per month I'd go from no people management to line managing 5 people, hugely increased financial responsibility and report to our board.I've taken on this role before and it gave me sleepless nights so why progress.

Some people are absolutely deluded about their ability, contribution and are very difficult to manage due to their mental health. People are very stressed. The expectations we have on life and work are unrealistic.

People are jaded about life after covid I think and the internet is removing micro interactions that we don't even realise we've lost even like asking for change in a shop. We're stuck on our phones and inflation is tough. Our lives are getting smaller and less satisfying and I think it shows.
