I know IBU to post here for traffic. NC as very specific.

Usually my DH does this stuff but looks like marriage is very much in end game so I’m trying to build my independence in areas I’ve been reliant on him for.

I have ordered a new IPhone 13 and have an iPhone?9.

I’ve just looked up how to transfer the data across and it looks like you just put them together and follow the instructions using Bluetooth.

My memory is full on my old iPhone. I can’t update my apps even. It constantly over heats.

Will the transfer go wrong? Any tips? I’m slightly nervous! Very nervous in fact.

Oh wise nest of vipers, please share any wisdom, or even just wish me luck! Feeling a bit alone in the world tonight.

Thanks so much in advance and sorry for the shameless use of AIBU knowing it’s where most of us hang out!

I’ve always done mine this way and it’s been fine ☺️

Thanks so much! That’s reassuring. I am a bit of a technophobe!

one of the joys of apple is there is a lot of help available at the apple stores.

depending on how much you have to transfer, I'd look at maybe subscribing to the icloud even if just for one month or something, uploading it all to the cloud from the old phone and then down loading it to the new phone.

but honestly, just nip it to your nearest apple store and discuss it with them. they will be able to advise you.

Never used Icloud before but will look it up thanks.

Im out in the sticks. Nearest Apple shop is two hours away but I might organise a shopping trip and do it.

I have just done something similar for my mum. Best advice: make sure the new phone is on the latest iOS before you start the process. Also do a backup before starting. Make sure you know your passwords! I reminded my mum before I did it and said I didn't want to hear the words "oh heck." Well, that was all I heard for several hours 😂. We got there in the end.

My bestest piece of advice: keep calm and be patient.

Oh heck!! 😂

I don’t know any of my passwords. I just use face recognition.

I don’t know how to do a back up either!

No idea how to check or do latest IOS - whatever hocus pocus that might be.

I have some learning to do.

thanks for the advice! Me and your mum are cut from the same cloth I think.

Well, if you need advice you know where to come!! Happy for you to DM me and I can speak with you. Mum won't use facial recognition and changes her password for everything every time she goes on holiday. So the conversation goes "where were you on holiday when you first had Facebook?" "Oh heck" 😂

I started hers and it was taking too long (patience is not my strong point) so we went out and came back several hours later (taking the original phone with us) and all of a sudden when we got back it magically worked.

Am pretty sure you need your Apple ID password. Mum: "is that the PIN number I put in the phone" 😂

Oh that’s so kind of you. Thank you.

I might get a head start and go through everything now and work out what all my passwords are.

Your mum is hilarious. I can imagine how frustrating it is though.
