Are all work places full of people who will throw you under the bus at any given opportunity and you can’t be nice to anyone for fear of them throwing it in your face? Finding the social aspect of work exhausting and I don’t know if it would be any better elsewhere or whether this is just working life🙄

I've never worked anywhere like that.

Not all workplaces are like this at all. When I was 18 I worked in a dental practice which was full of gossip and the like. However, you can choose to not engage with it and just focus on doing your job.

How many workplaces are you talking about? The answer is no, by the way. You will run into unpleasant people in most places, but most workplaces will deal with them reasonably. Some workplaces are friendly, some are very formal, but most are fine. Often it depends on the leadership.

No, they're not. Is this your first job?

There will always be some gossip and people you're not keen on - that's life. But most places I've worked (and I'm in my 40s, there's been many) are fine. The worst for me was a small family-run business where the daughter of the MD was the office manager - that was a horrible place.

Life's too short for that, OP. Just change jobs!
