Since Trump's election, American businesses have started closing down their diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) programmes.

Walmart has several important initiatives in order to increase inclusion of marginalised people, but has joined other companies in withdrawing them.

One such initiative is a Centre for Racial Equity which sought to address the root causes of gaps in outcomes of African Americans in education, health, criminal justice and other areas.

I've seen some analysis of Trump's victory which said that Democrats can no longer count on their traditional demographics. This is because discrimination is no longer a factor and people have moved beyond race.

I think Trump's win is complex and America continues to have a diversity problem. AIBU to think that closing down these programmes is premature?

The diversity programmes that I have come across cause more division than good. Far better to have organisations to be focused on shared values.
