Hi,
I've been to the doctor today because I was worried that my breasts we're a change in size, one is bigger than the other, but up on checking he's found 2 lumps and fast tracked me to the breast clinic, I haven't found these lumps and stil can't feel these lumps, I always check my breasts, my anxiety is so high I'm so scared!
Just want someone to help bring my anxiety down
Thanks

I've been through this and it's really scary. Nothing anyone says will reassure you. Until you get to your appointment your mind will be doing overtime. I was very similar and mine ended up being bone tissue. I was reassured straight away but it's a frightening feeling.

PinoGrejioh · 25/11/2024 17:53

I had a very similar experience with symptoms and I had the all clear, nothing nasty.

I still remember the fear though. Best of luck.

Any lumps in the breast will always be fast tracked, so that's nothing out of the ordinary there.
I found lumps, was seen by the breast clinic within 2 weeks, and they confirmed it was a cyst, which they drained there and then.

I'm not sure what the statistics are but not all lumps are cancerous, and even if they are, it's more treatable now.

Good luck, stay calm and don't Google!

9 out of 10 urgent referrals don't result in a diagnosis of cancer - please try not to worry though I know that's easier said than done.

MyLoftySwan · 25/11/2024 17:55

I've had breast cancer and my Moto is "try not to worry until you are given a reason to worry". You've done the right thing and this is why the two week referral is there. There are many reasons that don't necessarily mean cancer. It's absolutely normal to feel all the worries you have. Sending hugs and hoping you are seen soon.

I'm absolutely petrified, I'm in bed crying my eyes out, just thinking the worst, shaking with fear and nearly throwing up with anxiety

Firstly take a deep breath

You absolutely can't do anything about it now. You have to follow the process, there are several hoops to jump through before they could even give you a diagnosis. It's absolutely scary but tying yourself up in knots will not help you until you get to your appointment. Focus your energy on writing down questions you might want to ask, contact someone trusted if you think you might need someone as support at the hospital and ensuring you are looking after yourself. Eat well, get some exercise and stay away from alcohol if it makes you depressive.

It's so hard, he never even told me he found 2 lumps I rung the receptionist and asked her, I just said he never told me in the consultation just said he was referring me

I found a lump. It big. I was terrified. I was seen within a week at the breast clinic. I was convinced I was in serious trouble. It was a huge cyst. It was drained and my life carried on. No one can tell you not to worry but the chances of it being something are small.

helpme1234 · 25/11/2024 18:52

Thank you guys I appreciate it it's just the waiting game isn't it, he told me not to go off the rails and go home crying and having anxiety attacks, so he knew what I would do

Now, this I would be displeased and irate about. Doctors should convey all relevant information and potential concerns brought up by examination or interview with the patient to the patient.
