New neighbours

After 10 years in our current property we have now have new neighbours. We have a side by side driveway and have been overlooking them partially on our drive as they were moving in with a van. Today they have finished moving in and have their own car and van at the property. We noticed today that their van had been parked completely on our drive and up against our garage. We could neither access the garage, which we need to as hubby has motorbike in there, or get out of our gate. We left in an hour or so then knocked on the door. They said sorry but they needed access to their drive as they were expecting a delivery. We said we didn’t mind but would have been nice if you’d just knocked and asked as how were we to know if it wasn’t gona be there at 5 in the morning when hubby was going to work. I think they were being very cheeky with their assumption that could could just do that but aibu?

yes obviously! I was responding to the fact that they won't like his motorbike starting at 5 am, not saying the new neighbors were fine parking there in the first place!

I see yes sorry read your post wrong

Of course you are being reasonable, you’ve addressed it so hopefully it doesn’t happen again, if it does then oh dear, good job your DH can rev that motorbike to passive aggressively piss them off.

depends if the "hubby" is considerate or not. My husband used to have a motorbike when we were younger, and we lived on a culdesac that went down to a main road. He walked it down the culdesac and started it around the corner, as..like us, our neighbors had small children and I (and my neighbors) would have been mighty pissed off if he woke our kiddos that early!!!

But didn't that just shift the problem to other households on the main road?

no..because the main road was a very less populated road as it was mostly corn fields

An update on our new neighbours. The lady introduced herself to my hubby and apologised for any inconvenience they caused whilst moving in. We then took in a parcel for them when she came round to collect it she gave us a bottle of wine. Up until today I still hadnt seen or spoken to them but today I finally got to see and speak to her. Seem really nice people and very chatty hopefully will be the start of good neighbours
