I would call the GP as that's a large clot. Do you normally pass clots?

Is there any chance you could have been pregnant and you're having a miscarriage?

YABU for not putting an image warning...

How old are you, I'm getting this now I'm in peri. Joy.

I got like that in peri, but they progressed over time, rather than starting that way. I ended up on iron tablets (and B12 at one point.) And ended up being referred to gynae.

I would want it checked, especially as itnot normal for you.

The use of the word "these" in the title implies there is something to see. So not really surprising there's a photo.

And, if you didn't want to see, why click on a thread that had more of a chance of seeing a clot than say a thread about a birthday party....

Clue was in the title.

OP, I tend to pass blood clots that are similar. Strangely they’ve made my period lighter because they seem to come away like that when I go to the toilet.

I pass clots like that these days - BUT - like others here, it's not come on suddenly - after each child my periods got heavier/more clotty, and when I asked my GP, she said that there were various medications that might help a bit which I could try, and some more drastic things if it was un-manageable, but nothing that would actually fix it (apart from menopause). So I take iron and just deal with it for a few days a month, while I wait out peri!

If this is a sudden change, definitely get it checked out!

unsync · 24/11/2024 16:51

If you are coming up to or in peri, that's fairly typical. It's like passing chunks of chopped liver. If you're not, best to get it checked.

In early perimenopause I would frequently pass clots that size and larger. Same as @youngoldthing's experience, I would pass them, and my period would be the shorter for it, maybe two days length max. Now I'm in late-peri, no more clots, and lighter (but thicker) flow. I shouldn't worry about it, unless your flow is exceptionally and unusually heavy.
