Can you get a sick note post surgery?

I had surgery at the beginning of the week and stupidly thought I would be fine and back at work within a few days. I'm absolutely shattered and my bowels (not related to the surgery I had) are explosive. All in all, I feel shit.

When the hospital asked if I would need a sick note, I foolishly said no. Except now I think I do. Would my GP be able to give me one without seeing me? Thank you.

I would say yes if you ring your surgery reception to explain. Presumably they have some record on your notes of the surgery.

Hope the recovery goes well.

Yes they should be able to. When I had surgery the hospital couldn't give me one. Said I had to go through the GP.

Don't underestimate the impact of even minor surgery. Hope you get some rest and feel better soon.

Yes. I did.

Definitely yes.
