Dizzy two days after hitting head

This probably sounds ridiculous

Two days ago, I was getting Dd and ddog out of the car and as I was coming out, came up too soon and hit my head above me. I was wearing sunglasses on my head and they sort of pushed into my head, it was painful and feels sore to the touch there now.
Today ive been getting dizzy on and off all day and went into the shop and forgot what I went in for, ive also had tingling/pins and needles feeling in feet and toes. Is this related or am I being crazy?
Also not been sleeping properly for days, before this too as Dd up lots in the night and covid going around, so could be those things?

How likely is it to be connected to bumping my head?

Well ofcourse there is a possibility

Could be a bleed in your head, could be concussion , could be Covid

Only a hospital doctor can tell you for sure

dottiedodah · 20/11/2024 21:40

I would get checked out .if it is concussion then you need doctor at a and e to confirm. Try not to drive and rest as well. Down to A and E best place for you,!

Christmasissoon · 20/11/2024 21:46

How does a dr confirm concussion?

Could it really cause a bleed in the head? Freaking out now

Could I go to the Drs in the morn, not A & E?

Very unlikely to be from a bump on your head. Go to doctors in the morning.

NeedWineNow · 20/11/2024 22:03

I had a bump on my head some time ago (actually part of our living room ceiling came down on top of me).

I didn't pass out but DH whisked me up to A&E who were supremely unconcerned but they did say if I experienced any dizziness, limb weakness, nausea or sudden headache that I was to go back in immediately as it could be a delayed reaction.

What I'm trying to say OK is that in your shoes I would be going immediately to A&E. Better to be safe than sorry.

Noseybookworm · 20/11/2024 22:05

Is it just dizziness or do you have a headache or nausea? It could be lack of sleep but I would probably get checked by the doctor tomorrow if it's not any better.

Harassedmum123 · 20/11/2024 22:06

Unfortunately it does happen- I experienced a subarachnoid brain haemorrhage 48 hours after a severe bump to my head though I had no obvious symptoms in those 48 hours. Definitely go to Dr or A&E in the morning or if you feel worse overnight. To be honest though, i’m not sure they’d send you for a scan immediately.

Christmasissoon · 20/11/2024 22:12

@Harassedmum123 How would they check me

Christmasissoon · 20/11/2024 22:14

@Noseybookworm No real headache, some neck ache at the back, but mainly tingling in hands and down legs

OP posts:
Coulddowithanap · 20/11/2024 22:18

Just go to A&E OP

NeedWineNow · 20/11/2024 22:19

@Christmasissoon Its the tingling in the limbs that would concern me I have to say. Could be just tiredness or shock at the bump, but I'd definitely be getting it checked out.

Edited to add that at the very least I would be ringing 111. They may be able to get an out of hours GP to advise. You really shouldn't take any risks with head injuries however minor they may seem.

PinotPony · 20/11/2024 22:19

Post concussion syndrome can last for weeks after a bump to the head. Very unlikely to be a bleed. If you still have a headache or dizziness in a few days go to your GP.

@Harassedmum123 How would they check me

They should do a scan on your brain to check if there has been a bleed. It was how they found out that I was suffering a haemorrhage Had I have gone in the day mine burst, they would have been able to see the aneurysm and performed the coiling/clipping in advance of the haemorrhage. Hopefully yours is more concussion based and the symptoms you are experiencing will go away of their own accord.

justasking111 · 20/11/2024 22:23

Do get checked out asap

jannier · 20/11/2024 22:30

It can take up to 72 hours to get symptoms.

@jannier symptoms of what? Please

OP posts:
Christmasissoon · 20/11/2024 22:33

@jannier Sorry saw it now. How do they test for concussion and what do they do about it?

OP posts:
berksandbeyond · 20/11/2024 22:34

Ffs just go to A&E

itendswithus · 20/11/2024 22:36

Phone 111 who can get you an appointment with OOH GP who can assess you. If they say ED fine, but I would go down that route before waiting for hours in ED.

ItsyWincy · 21/11/2024 13:42

@Christmasissoon how are you? 💐
